Director of Finance- Travis Mathew
JOB OVERVIEW
The Director, Finance is responsible for providing financial leadership and support to Travis Mathew's business leaders for an assigned function. This individual will direct and oversee the development and execution of strategic and tactical financial plans as well as manage accounting requirements to meet both the current and long-term needs of Travis Mathew. This individual will manage the forecasting, business planning process, and accounting activities.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works closely with business leaders to drive performance through development and execution of strategic plans.
• Uses data and experience to make recommendations and decisions regarding changes, or implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to TravisMathew’s business.
• Recommends and implements detailed plans to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
• Leads financial processes and directs financial planning and analysis. Directs and reviews work of Finance team including the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts including the standard setting process.
• Manage accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX controls
• Manage the cost accounting and payment tracking process, including assisting the accounting team in inventory valuation and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory and warranty reserves.
• Serve as interface between TravisMathew and functional groups to ensure close, reporting, and forecasting deadlines are on time
• Reviews working capital forecasts and advises management regarding variances to budget.
• Supports business analytics with sales and operations teams and provides insight where applicable based on personal review of routine reporting in those areas
• Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expense, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
• Determines depreciation rates to apply to capital assets in conjunction with accounting.
• Manage, mentor and develop staff of professionals. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Reviews direct reports and approves performance appraisals initiated by direct reports.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis, business reviews and reports as required by Senior Management.
• Establishes and implements a sound operational and organizational plan in direct support of the business plan. Ensures that the company's management principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Highly organized with attention to detail.
• Extremely strong business acumen and a passion for driving organizational success.
• Expert knowledge of MS Office; specifically Excel. Ability to build financial models in excel and understand complex formulas (Power Query knowledge required – can learn on job)
• Thorough knowledge of various software tools; Power BI and ERP navigation.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written with all levels of management and external contacts.
• Strong motivational skills. Proven track record for success in mentorship and personnel development.
• Strong understanding of entire budget process for a multi-faceted, medium sized organization.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Technically proficient in accounting, understanding debits and credits
• Extremely efficient with a focus on time-lines & due dates.
• Expert ability to determine, organize and analyze data.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related subject required
• MBA preferred.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Experience working in the Corporate Finance function of a retail/manufacture organization.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive, professional experience working within a financial capacity.
• Minimum 4 years leadership/management experience.
