The Assistant Director of Football Performance reports to the Director of Football Performance and assists in all aspects of sports performance for football student-athletes.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Develops football strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes with review from the Director of Football Sports Performance or Director of Athletic Training Services;
• Supervises and coordinates strength and conditioning programs for football as required;
• Responsible for strength testing and evaluation as assigned;
• Responsible for strength and conditioning programs which elicit safe and correct execution of exercise technique;
• Effectively communicates with athletic trainers and coaches on exercise protocol;
• Participates in monthly Student-Athlete Performance Summit with Intercollegiate Sports Medicine Staff;
• Promotes the football sports performance program at Northwestern University at requested times including but not limited to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes;
• Represents the Department at University, Big Ten Conference, and national-level conferences and professional development opportunities as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance;
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the NSCA or CSCCA Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association before employment starting date and maintained throughout appointment
• Maintenance of CPR, AED and First Aid training required
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
• Previous strength and conditioning coaching experience with collegiate student-athletes preferred
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
• Master’s degree preferred
