Develops and prepares news releases, feature articles, and publications relating to athletic programs and events; serves as the lead athletic communications representative for assigned sport programs; travels with designated teams on assigned road trips; assists with department’s marketing and promotion initiatives as assigned; and helps maintain the athletics website.
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field plus at least one year of sports journalism or related experience required.
Writing, editing, and organizational experience; knowledge of college athletics; and knowledge of software applicable to the design of publications and marketing materials and website management also required.
Student experience will be considered.
Frequent travel and evening and weekend work necessary.
Must abide by the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Missouri Valley Football Conference, Big 12 Conference (Wrestling only) and the University of Northern Iowa.
Experience working in a college athletic department or professional sports organization; experience shooting/editing video; and knowledge of Stat Crew software preferred.
