Job Description:
The position is responsible for assistance and support of the athletic development operation at Appalachian State University athletic department. Primary duties center around the planning and execution of events and operations for donors on Football and Basketball game days (i.e. Yosef Club Members, club seat patrons, suite guests, etc.). This position is also responsible for supporting the athletic development staff members in the growth and development of relationships within regional chapter areas to increase fundraising efforts for the annual fund and major gifts.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:
Knowledge of the mission, goals, and needs of the Athletics Development office and University Advancement; attention to detail; ability to build collaborative relationships and maintain confidentiality; ability to acquire, compile, evaluate, and report program needs for budgets, travel, reconciliations, purchase orders, endowment agreements, executive correspondence, and other areas as needed. Must also have knowledge of data base use and monitoring. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be very organized with the ability to prioritize and must be able to produce accurate records.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university and one to three years of professional development and/or fundraising experience. Related fields in public relations, marketing, or communications is also acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with any combination of Banner, NeuLion, Excel, and dashboard formats is highly desirable; experience in event logistics; excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills; ability to be proactive with self-motivation to start and complete tasks on deadline; high levels of accuracy and ability to manage multiple tasks successfully; capability to develop and maintain effective relationships by listening, understanding, and responding to client/customer needs; high levels of professionalism and confidentiality; ability to respond to challenges and problem solve; proficiency in using database systems and ability to develop procedures and apply new technologies. A master’s degree is preferred.
