The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh seek a qualified candidate to fill a professional appointment as Assistant Athletic Communications Director. This full-time, ten-month position will work closely with the Director of Athletic Communications to promote the 18 NCAA Division III sports sponsored by SUNY Plattsburgh and will report to the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities include:
The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with coverage of the Cardinals’ 18 NCAA Division III athletic teams which compete in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
The individual in this position will serve as the primary media contact for a number of teams. In addition to assisting with the day-to-day operations of the athletics communications office, this individual will be responsible for in-depth website management, which includes but is not limited to: feature stories, event recaps, scores, statistics, team rosters, schedules and team histories.
Additionally, the candidate will also assist with planning and overseeing special events such as the Hall of Fame ceremony, the spring student-athletes ceremony, etc. Responsibilities in game management will include press box management, assigning and supervising staff to assist with in-game responsibilities (scoreboard, public address, statistics, etc.), in-game updating of social media platforms and score reporting. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; Experience working in a sports information/athletic media relations office at an NCAA college or university;
Experience in athletic website maintenance; excellent writing and editing skills with an attention to detail;
Familiarity with social media platforms; Working knowledge of Windows computers and operating systems;
Strong background with Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.); Knowledge of basic layout and design principles;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Strong working knowledge of StatCrew/The Automated Scorebook statistical software, ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
Ability and willingness to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary are required, as is a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, media relations, public relations or a related field;
Familiarity and experience with webcasting and video editing, working with video boards, and/or digital photography will be highly regarded.

Salary:$28,804 minimum, plus excellent benefits.
