THE JOB / Marketing & Sales Director, (Golf Tournament)
We’re looking to hire a Marketing & Sales Director in support of two signature golf tournaments held in Naples, Florida. The tournaments are the CME Group Tour Championship (LPGA) and the Chubb Classic (PGA TOUR Champions). The primary focus for this role spans marketing, PR and sales related functions. You will work directly with the Tournament Director and event staff in the successful execution of both events.
THE WORK YOU’LL DO
• Develop, coordinate and manage timeline of Creative Services, Tournament Promotions, Media Partnerships and Public Relations needs for each Tournament
• Maximize the value of the tournament through strategy, planning & program development; budget management; execution, and measurement/evaluation.
• Assist Tournament Director on sales related activities
• Help manage and execute contacts and fulfillment of with various key sponsors
• Marketing Strategy, Planning & Program Development:
◦ Create and implement advance and on-site promotions for each tournament working with Corporate and Media Partners to maximize tournament exposure
◦ Oversee development and implementation of Media Plan including management of all media partnerships finalizing trade/cash relationships where appropriate and fulfill all elements of each partnership
◦ Create and execute PR campaigns for both events
◦ Write and communicate all press releases. Provide recaps related to the success and coverage of each press release in both local and national markets.
• Budget Management
◦ Manage tournament budget and provide necessary status reports and recaps
• Execution
◦ Serve as the primary point of contact for client, vendors and host clubs
◦ Supervision of a team of 2-3 limited terms and Tournament coordinator
Measurement/Evaluation
◦ Create recap documents of each tournament including hard data, key metrics, and recommendations

Qualifications
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• You have a passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years’ experience in related field
◦ 2 years’ experience in event marketing
◦ Experience working in the golf industry a plus.
• You are adept at working across a combination of strategic, logistical and tactical projects
• You’ve developed successful marketing plans that deliver upon objectives, on-time and on-budget
• Interpersonal savvy is your thing. You create positive relationships (amongst all stakeholders: client, vendor, supplier, internal team etc.), can manage “up and down” and always negotiate positive outcomes for all
• In this role you must have an interest in business development support: interest and willingness to support growth opportunities for clients and Octagon
• Proven supervisory experience with the ability to hire, manage and mentor junior staff
• Experience managing and maintaining a budget or budgets
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally. A writing and PowerPoint assignment will be a part of the hiring process. (Sample Press Release)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office with the possibility of specific skill set depending upon position (i.e. PP, Excel)
• Collaborative in nature with a “no job is too small” attitude to assist with overall account team duties and additional programs as needed
• Ability and flexibility to travel and weekend/holiday work as needed approximately 25%
