The Assistant Director of Compliance, Student-Athlete Issues (“Assistant Director”) must be extremely knowledgeable regarding NCAA rules and possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing a comprehensive monitoring program relating to NCAA and Big Ten rules impacting the activities of student-athletes. The Assistant Director will be comfortable with technology and use it to advance the goals of the Compliance Services Office. The Assistant Director will convey a strong customer service attitude and assist student-athletes, coaches and athletic administrators by interpreting, teaching and monitoring all required rules and regulations. The Assistant Director will consistently and reliably demonstrate good judgment, sound reasoning, and practicality.
Job Duties:
Monitoring of compliance issues impacting student-athletes including:
• Completion of annual student-athlete compliance forms.
• Roster management activities such as: o Updating student-athlete data in JumpForward compliance software program. o Monitoring and communication of additions and deletions to rosters. o Participation reports. o Travel and competition rosters and class excuse letters.
• Playing and practice season activities such as: o Declarations of playing and practice seasons. o CARA forms. o Practice visits. o Summer conditioning activities. o Support implementation of recent time management proposals
• Student-athlete employment.
• Complimentary admissions to student-athletes.
• Promotional activities.
• Automobile monitoring and parking passes.
• Student-athlete meals.
• Student-athlete housing.
• Outside competition.
• Amateurism issues.
• Assisting with the development of rules education programming for student-athletes.
• Provide interpretations of NCAA rules to coaches, staff and student-athletes.
• Prepare and submit waiver requests, as assigned.
• Investigate possible violations of NCAA rules and draft violation reports, as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Associate Athletic Director.
Required Qualifications*
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1 - 3 years of compliance experience in a Division I athletics program
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules
• Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast – paced office setting
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate information to a range of audiences
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Desired Qualifications*
• Masters, law or other relevant advanced degree
• Demonstrated knowledge of Big Ten rules
• Previous experience in a BCS-level athletics program
• NAAC Education Certification

Additional Salary Information: Salary commensurate with experience.
