Position Description:
This position will help develop and manage best practices and operational guidelines for all NBA domestic venues. Specific focus will be placed on the development and renovation of domestic arenas in combinations with implementation of key league initiatives for NBA game and events. The position will also serve as the day-to-day point of contact between the League and NBA arena operators and managers.
Major Responsibilities:
• Work closely with all 30 NBA teams and arena general managers to establish and maintain best practices for arena operations including, arena infrastructure, crisis management, launch of new NBA products and the implementation of league rules/regulations;
• Develop the business, build relationships and execute programs in order to offer a high level of service and resources made available to the league, our teams and our arenas;
• Provide oversight and advisement on new and renovated arenas;
• Develop near-term and long-term arena operational guidelines and facility standards for NBA games and events;
• Serve as a point of communication and coordination with internal league representatives, NBA arena operators and facility management representatives;
• Collaborate and partner with key league stakeholders in the execution and implementation of League initiatives. Position will be expected to work cross-departmentally and understand the day-to-day functions and goals of each key discipline;
• Research, analyze and monitor trends and advancements in the industry to improve and progress venue and operational strategies and implement new initiatives;
• Monitor and support arena-related Crisis Management Protocols
Required Experience & Knowledge:
• 7 years experience in a high level project management, arena management or an operations role for a large facility or venue management company
• Exceptional writing skills
• Ability to interface at all levels of management and the ability to build a strong working relationship, and rapport with internal and external clients
• Extensive conceptual and strategic skills and ability to work with and quickly understand all functional areas of arena development and event execution
• High level of competence and analytical orientation
• Strong skills in PM proficiency and reporting
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required. AD and HTML a plus
• Relationship Building Skills
• Confidence in meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple projects with an expectation for excellence
• Ability to travel
Educational Background Required:
College degree (BA/BS) from an accredited, four-year university with a degree in Business or related field.
