Responsibilities:
The Director Benefits Planning and Administration will be responsible for the planning and administration of the various employee benefit programs, including but not limited to, health and welfare, wellness, disability, life insurance, as well as pension and other related retirement programs.
• Responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing employee benefits programs on an enterprise-wide basis which impact employees across various levels (executive, exempt/non-exempt, hourly, union etc.) and state locations.
• Ensures that benefits records are accurately recorded and reported to outside vendors.
• Audits and approves all union fringe benefit payments and ensures wire transfers are made timely to reduce late penalties. Will work with Manager Benefits to re-engineer fringe benefit process.
• Analyses and reports on benefit plan enrollments and provide reports on employee participation.
• Ensures all benefit notifications to employees are communicated, distributed timely and that MSG is compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Provides advice on day-to-day operations, reviews system benefits setups, processes and streamline administrative operations.
• Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and makes recommendations to Sr. Management
• Assures thorough audits, reports and personal contact that company benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
• Partner with HRMS, IT, MSG Payroll and the appropriate division controllers to ensure that the union and administrative retirement benefits are properly set-up on a PeopleSoft environment.
• Assists retirees with medical plan issues, corresponds with employees and provides guidance and resolution to issues.
• Performs other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of Health and Welfare Plans, Qualified, and Non-Qualified Retirement Plans, Disability and leave plans.
• 10+ years of experience in benefits planning and administration.
• Strong benefit systems knowledge and report writing.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, team-building and analytical skills.
• High level of energy and commitment; ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to create a workplace environment that fosters quality service and a department of excellence.
