Responsibilities:
Assistant Athletic Director for Fitness and Recreation/Strength and Conditioning
Administer, supervise, and develop a comprehensive recreation program including intramural and club sports, group fitness and outdoor adventure Supervise and manage a 2,500 square foot fitness center including coordination of maintenance/update of Precor equipment, free weights and various cardiovascular machines Coordinate the student worker staff for the fitness center and hire/train interns to assist with overall operations of intramurals and recreation Design, implement, and direct sport performance based curriculum for 14 varsity athletic teams Must be proficient in teaching weightlifting and strength training movements, plyometrics, exercise selection and programming, agility drills, speed mechanics, and nutrition The ability to communicate effectively with strong organizational skills and develop a positive working relationship with varsity sport coaches (and their staffs), sports medicine staff and varsity student athletes is imperative Maintain a safe, effective, and efficient training environment for varsity student athletes Instruct varsity student athletes about physical preparation, health and nutrition, safety and recovery responsibilities Maintain a high level of written and oral communication Collaborate with varsity sport coaches and their staffs to develop the sport performance based yearly training schedule Active engagement in professional development opportunities, research training and conditioning methodology, maintain upkeep of training facilities, maintain an electronic database of individual and team training programs Game Management duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Responsibilities:
Head Women’s Soccer Coach Provides leadership and supervision in all aspects of the women’s soccer program including, recruitment, retention, academic support, practice preparation, game strategy, alumni development, fundraising and community service.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coaching, mental training, mentoring, recruiting, public relations, fundraising, community involvement and administrative duties Full participation in monthly staff meetings, attendance at annual open house and Division III celebration week activities Ensuring compliance with all College, Skyline Conference and NCAA rules and regulations related to recruiting and academic monitoring for student athletes Working with the Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director for Admissions, to create an annual strategic plan for recruitment of prospective student-athletes, maintain and update recruiting logs and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner Collaborating with the Sports Information Director for the positive promotion of the women’s soccer program. Areas included should be individual and team statistics, media guides, reports to NCAA, Skyline Conference, individual accolades on and off the field and website updates Student-athlete development and game preparation Representing the College at athletics meetings including Skyline Conference meetings/conference calls and NCAA coaches’ convention Hiring and supervising assistant coaches and team managers and ensures department and College regulations are understood by and complied with by student athletes and coaching staff Scheduling competitive non-conference game schedule annually Developing an annual operating budget and oversee the purchasing, distribution and collection of all equipment and coordinate purchasing of equipment and supplies and build inventory of equipment annually Monitoring the academic status of student-athletes Passing annual NCAA recruiting exam The head coach will also be responsible for working with the athletic and College staff to support the philosophy, goals and mission of both the College and its’ athletic program Coordinating a minimum of two (2) community outreach projects for the promotion of CMSV athletics Displaying a commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and ethical conduct as per the NCAA Constitution Working closely with Director of Athletics on long and short-term planning for the Women’s Soccer program
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Exercise Science/Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field
• Current CPR / AED certification
• Current strength and conditioning coach certification (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience at the collegiate level
• Strong knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations and recruiting practices
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with proven driving record in good standing
• Working knowledge of basic spreadsheet/word processing programs
