Position Summary
Would you like to join Fortune 7 CVS Health’s dynamic Labor Relations team? As the Human Resources Director - Labor Relations, you will provide dedicated and reactive labor relations expertise to operations consistent with the company’s overall labor relations and human resources strategy. In this role, you will partner with the Senior Director of Labor Relations and establish relationships across the organization as well as with national labor leaders.
You will focus on mitigating the potential impact of labor issues, while cultivating dedicated employee relations efforts to create alignment and consistency while driving accountability within the function. You will collaborate to develop the collective bargaining strategy for operations with union representation. You will work with operating management to meet and support overall strategic objectives while maintaining overall responsibilities leading campaigns, strategy and training.
In addition, you will counsel managers and employees, regarding the interpretation and application of the collective bargaining agreements as well as the intent, application, and compliance requirements of labor and regulatory laws. You will also evaluate grievances and other local conflicts resulting from the labor agreements to figure out if contractual violations have occurred and implement appropriate remedies to grieving parties.
This position will be located in California.
Additional responsibilities include:
• You will create and implement systems to identify labor relations issues that may advance beyond the local level.
• You will establish and implement best practice strategies that promote employee engagement and team building.
• You will create and implement positive employee relations strategies, including leadership training, with processes to identify locations with high risk for employee relations issues and creating action plans for reducing that risk.
• You will create Labor Relations programs, tools and resources, incorporating best practices from field operations, to serve as resources for the field and support the creation of alignment, consistency and accountability in the management of labor issues.
• You will develop sustainable relationships with senior management and local leadership in order to facilitate effective dialogue to address and resolve issues and proactively implement effective workplace practices.
• You will build rapport with key labor organizations in the Americas, including relationships with various national labor union organizations and their key representatives to create a positive platform to address issues as they arise and build future relationship equity.
• You will collaborate with management by providing input and perspective in areas beyond labor relations to ensure that labor implications have been considered and addressed.
Required Qualifications
• You have a minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the labor function which includes contract bargaining, collective bargaining, union campaigns, and union avoidance strategy.
• You can travel up to 75% of the time as required per business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
• You have experience with first contract and contract renewal negotiations and a track record of success in establishing credibility with major unions.
• You have proven expertise in developing and implementing both dedicated and reactive labor relations strategy and plans in close collaboration with operations leadership.
• You have grievance resolution experience and knowledge of procedures used to investigate and resolve employee grievances.
• You have knowledge of federal and state laws, company policies, practices and ethical obligations to investigate, evaluate, and recommend an appropriate resolution to employee and labor relations complaints.
Education
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• JD preferred.
• Degree in Management or Human Resources is preferred.
