Description
The Director, Process Improvement utilizes performance management, design for lean process
improvement, problem solving, statistical methodologies and total quality management tools as well as
training, coaching, and influence skills to achieve specific organizational change and financial
objectives.This role works closely with the business to understand and document processes/practices,
establish measurement plans, identify and quantify process improvement opportunities, implement
change and build and execute control plans. Mentors and trains Black Belt and Green Belt-certified
professionals in planning, designing, and accomplishing statistical based approaches to key projects.
Work is accomplished through effective leadership and working relationships with business leaders and all applicable functional department personnel. The incumbent advises senior executives on the nature and progress of assigned improvement activities. The Director, Process Improvement cultivates relationships and establishes a network of change agents (at all levels) to inspire and drive the rigor, value and benefits of continuous improvement throughout the organization. Specifically works with various VP of Customer Service, various AVPs of Customer Service organization, Directors and business team members across the Customer Service organization.
Will also interface with cognizant/appropriate personnel from other groups within Diebold, Inc such as Design, QA/QC, Product Management, Project Management, Operations, etc.
Takes responsibility for driving change to business process and promoting the practical application of Lean process improvement tools. Required to lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in a specialized field. Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term implications. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional areas of expertise.
Consults upper management and business process owners as independent evaluator/assessor.
• Clearly defines the business case for the projects that have been proposed, and validates the opportunity, scope and importance of a project.
• Coach business team members in the practical application Lean Process Improvements tools to drive significant business impact.
• Leads cross-team projects to drive standardization, stability, and simplification in processes. This includes providing change leadership methods and tools across assigned critical business initiatives
• Gathers, collects, organizes, prioritizes, conducts statistical analysis, and presents data concerning business and/or project opportunities and trains Diebold teams as required.
• Identify opportunities to Lean and simplify processes for sustained productivity gains and customer impact.
• Establishes key measures of success for projects and implements necessary tracking plans.
• Act as a change agent, systematically driving continuous improvement and change throughout the business, setting the pace of change to grow the business and make it more efficient.
• Present ideas, thoughts, and projects to senior management and get support on projects and serves as a recognized expert and resource leader for process focus areas
• Develop rigorous control plans; working closely with process owners, project champions, and Sr. Leadership Team to provide leadership and direction on the implementation of lean strategies and processes and ensure improvement gains are sustained on a long-term basis
• Responsible for design process, design dashboard and educating upper management and business team on how to use.
• Facilitates workout sessions, high impact KIZAN events, value stream mapping, critical parameter identification and activities to achieve project objectives.
• Remain knowledgeable and in compliance with all company policies, Quality, and Departmental practices and proactively address issues that exist within the employee's immediate work environment.
• Effectively work with teams that involve cross-functional members
Qualifications
• SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Master’s Degree (applied statistics or mathematics) preferable
• 7-10 years experience in a process improvement function preferable
• Training and certification through a Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma accredited organization
• Experience related to process improvement, dashboards, balance scorecards and statistical analysis.
• Familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed, cross-functional organization and experience building, empowering, and leading these cross functional teams
• Additional leadership experience in the areas of operations, manufacturing and quality is preferred
• Expertise in leading change.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills, all levels of the organization
• Strong Program Management and communication skills
• Must have the ability to build and promote organizational change management initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.... must be responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions
• Team player able to work closely with a cross-functional teams and open to sharing information and best practices with the team
