Job Summary:The Director, Global Trade and Compliance (“Director-Customs”), is responsible for overseeing the Company’s global trade and customs activities and developing a ‘best in class’ global compliance program. The Director-Customs will be responsible to manage trade compliance operations for the company. Including ensuring that the Company adheres to and complies with all international and US laws, as well as any requirements of other government agencies, relating to the import and export of merchandise. This position collaborates with and advises internal and external partners to continually improve the Company’s ability to meet compliance requirements for existing and new products. The Director-Customs also provides leadership, continuous improvement, analysis and technical expertise for all Trade Compliance and Customs support.

Primary Functions:
• Ensure compliance with US and international laws and regulations governing goods importation, including but not limited to: classification, valuation, record keeping, discrepancy reporting, and other requirements as needed.
• Collaborate and lead initiatives with Legal, Quality/Packaging, Merchandising and global offices to improve internal controls related to customs compliance and regulations.
• Manage regulatory aspects of imports and exports.
• Lead audits of to ensure Company is monitoring compliance according to US Customs ‘best practices’.
• Oversee relationship with U.S. Customs Border Protection (“CBP”) and 3rd Party Brokers, and similar domestic and foreign agencies.
• Identify and implement opportunities to drive savings related to Customs Compliance, Duty, Brokerage, Classification or other related programs.
• Monitor import activity to minimize exposure to International Trade Commission (ITC) anti-dumping orders.
• Conduct annual risk management assessment and update compliance initiatives as appropriate.
• Develop, implement and oversee implementation of CTPAT program with US CBP.
• Develop and deliver training for new hires and existing associates whose position requires dealings with any international market to understand trade compliance function.
• Support the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and as needed Legal department to effectively address and resolve trade product compliance issues.
• Work with Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, to investigate issues pertaining to matters of non-compliance and violations of accepted business standards.
• Conducts business and behaves in an ethical manner and in compliance with company policy as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
• Fosters and ensures compliance with company policy and applicable laws and regulations relating to all facets of the business, including, but not limited to SOX, SEC, Lacey Act, FCPA, C-TPAT, customs, international logistics, wage and hour, product safety, certifications and labelling, environmental, and social responsibility.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferred major in a related business, logistics, or supply chain
Related Experience, Qualifications and/or Certifications:
• 10+ years’ experience in progressive, global product compliance management roles, required; or equivalent combination of experience and education
• 10+ years of related experience in U.S. and international regulatory audit
• Valid customs broker license required
• US Customs and Retail experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience with C-TPAT certification process.
• Knowledge of NAFTA and other Canadian Trade Programs preferred
Strong track record of building strategic partnerships and relationships
Computer Skills / Special Equipment Knowledge:
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required
