Description:
As a Director Technology, you are accountable for leading the Asset Protection (AP) and Legal Affairs (LA) teams in addition to supporting PRA (process re-engineering and automation - Digital Cognitive Robotics). You and your teams will be responsible for the design and development of the AP, LA and support PRA. You will lead creation of strategies, identify new technology practices and tools and create the right team dynamic to drive Target’s goals. You will be responsible for developing and fostering key stakeholder relationships and frequent, communication with the stakeholders and all other individuals for the areas of responsibility and focus.
Lead the AP, LA and support PRA organization
• Understand, advocate and communicate company objectives, vision and strategy to team members and leaders
• Ensure that all the development work for your focus area across locations adheres to standards.
• Have a good understanding of all the necessary changes required to support future releases.
• Innovate, lead and initiate new development processes, technology and capabilities – fostering a culture of agility, speed to market, continuous improvement, calculated risk-taking and innovation in development and operations.
• Manage global teams to resolve technical issues, including participation and review of the work as appropriate.
• Act as a change agent to enable, empower and inspire technology teams to collaboratively create solutions to drive Target’s growth
• Assist senior leadership in the management of focus area financials.
Ensure that technology is healthy, scalable and robust
• Influence the technology direction of business areas mentioned above by introducing techniques and tools that increase productivity, speed of delivery and overall quality.
• Work with development, operations and product vendors to develop a deep understanding of the current architecture.
• Drive root cause analysis and forward planning of all non-functional (scalability, performance, resilience, availability, security, development efficiency etc.) issues of the platform
• Create/evolve vision for technology solutions; communicate, inspire and align technology leaders and teams to execution of vision
• Keep abreast of technology trends and advances in Video management, video streaming, AI and deep learning for video insights, intelligence and analytics, check and control frauds using different IOT signals, etc
Build strong internal and external partnerships
• Create and maintain strong partnerships with internal business clients in multiple locations
• Responsible for partnerships and management of key technology vendors.
• Build relationships with external partners and stay current with technology advances in the space.
Team Member Management
• Ability to understand, advocate and communicate company objectives, vision and strategy to team members and leaders.
• Set staffing needs and support recruiting strategy that is aligned with meeting business objectives
• Provides leadership, coaching, motivation and assistance to managers and team members to ensure teamwork and high performance in the accomplishments of all responsibilities and projects.
• Plan and execute staff development activities and training.
• Drive a culture of engineering that helps attract and retain talent with passion for diversity
Reporting and Working Relationships
• Reports to: Sr. Director of PRA, AP and LA
• Direct Reports: AP, LA and PRA teams in mpls
• Other Working Relationships: many business, product and TTS teams
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
• 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience; 3+ years in last 5 years in hands on technology and building/ managing large scale enterprise products
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.
• Possess deep understanding of video surveillance, digital robotics, video management and analytics, AI and deep learning, NLP, distributed architecture
• Strong business acumen, ability to connect technical direction to business strategy and goals
• Ability to convey technical solutions clearly beyond immediate team
• Proven technology leadership experience within a complex, high-transaction business environment.
• Proven experience leading corporate IT teams and success in building high performing teams.
• Experience building and leading Agile teams that have adopted modern CI/CD practices and have hosted workloads in the external or private cloud environments.
• Experience in managing global teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating effectively at the highest levels of management.
• Ability to exert intellectual, emotional and political influence as the situation demands
• Proactive and responsible with strong managerial skills
• Experience managing budgets.
