The Director of Loss Prevention at Tillys builds and implements policies, programs, and procedures that control risk, reduce shrink and protect the employees and assets. The director is responsible for leading and developing LP team members in the corporate, retail, and distribution centers. He/she will have a proven track record of building strong working relationships throughout organizations (Store Operations, Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide direct operational oversight and leadership for all loss detection, prevention, shrink and mitigation processes.
• Supervise staff, including regular progressive reviews and plans for improvement.
• Direct all initiatives regarding loss and security training programs and necessary completion by all required employees.
• Facilitate loss management by partnering with retail partners and provide expert advice and counsel for field and RSC/DC staff.
• Manage the training, detection, investigation and successful resolution of all internal high dollar and sensitive investigations within assigned stores and RSC/DC.
• Conduct assessments of Loss Prevention and operational performance that impact shortage control efforts in the field and at the RSC/DC. Actively work with VP of Stores and Regional Managers in the development and implementation of action plans to improve shrink performance.
• Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of results and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions, as appropriate.
• Ensure accurate and timely report writing, record keeping and retention of evidence by conducting periodic reviews.
• Oversee the proper operation and repair of alarm, EAS and CCTV equipment.
• Educate and motivate Loss Prevention team to achieve shrink, workers compensation and general liability goals. Assist in maintaining a safe working environment in all stores and the RSC/DC.
• Demonstrates courageous leadership by identifying and communicating potential ethical or safety issues that must be addressed at a higher level.
• Manage and ensure reporting of critical incidents in assigned area of responsibility.
• Ensure follow-up on required inventories and audits in order to control costs and shrinkage. Oversee all Loss Prevention efforts in partnership with Inventory Control to ensure accurate inventory taking.
• Partner with Store Operations on all training and awareness efforts to leverage existing payroll to maximize shrink reduction efforts.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in multi-unit Loss Prevention leadership and previous experience managing a loss prevention team required.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze information, identify root causes and develop/implement approved solutions in stressful situations.
• Experience selecting, assessing, coaching and developing managers, preferably in a retail environment.
• Knowledge of financial operations and processes; analytical skills to diagnose root cause of deficiencies.
• Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of internal and external team members.
• Ability to use strategic thought process to minimize exposure to emerging threats and trends
• Ability to form strong partnerships across reporting relationships.
• Ability to influence activities and results of those who are not direct reports.
• Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
