United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) is looking for a Sales Directors to join our team in the Atlantic Region (Charlotte, NC, Edison, NJ or York, PA). The Sales Director will be a key part of our Sales organization, responsible for leading and profitably managing all aspects of their assigned geographic area. They will ensure the team has necessary support and tools to effectively service customers. Develop and execute sales plans and goals with team which are designed to increase sales, profits, and market share and to minimize expenses. They collaborate with their teams to achieve the objective of Building Out the Store.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
• Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of effective sales strategies and guidelines.
• Develop, execute and collaborate with team on account sales strategies and account planning to exceed sales and margin growth goals.
• Assign team members to accomplish UNFI’s Building Out the Store objective.
• Cultivate and build networks to gain industry knowledge which can lead to prospective sales.
• Forecast profit, volume growth, expenses and other related goals as determined. Prepare sales and expense budget for assigned area accounts.
• Research and analyze environmental and competitive conditions, customer needs, and market trends. Design and execute strategies to capitalize on business development opportunities.
• Responsible for implementing sales process improvements to foster continuous improvement.
• Visit accounts as necessary to enhance relationship, business and to resolve challenges.
• Lead team members within assigned area through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
• Manage sales team members to established metrics.
• Responsible for selection, training and mentoring current and new team members within assigned area.
• Ensure that existing accounts are serviced in accordance with UNFI standards.
• Attend tradeshows, industry events and sales meetings as needed.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor degree in marketing or business management (or a related field) or equivalent experience.
• MBA preferred.
Required Knowledge:
• Understanding and knowledge of company products.
• Working knowledge of sales forecasting, programs, promotions and related techniques.
• Working knowledge of Profit and Loss Statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of margin and company profitability.
Required Experience:
• 7-10 years of sales experience.
• 7+ years of people management experience.
• Experience in developing and carrying out business plans, sales plans, and commission programs.
