Job Description
Scope of Responsibility: The Director of Automotive Strategy is responsible for developing traditional and non-traditional business initiatives and strategies to increase revenue and improve profitability. This position will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of traditional and non-traditional growth initiatives byidentifying, researching and completing the financial modeling for each initiative. In addition, the position will make fact based recommendations on which initiatives to test in a test and control environment, with well-defined success metrics. The position will work cross functionally within the Automotive group (corporate and field) and across Sears Holdings to ensure stakeholder engagement, process creation and any support needed to test and scale all growth initiatives.
Job Summary: Primary focus is to drive Revenue and Profit through traditional (existing) channels and develop “break - through” non-traditional growth initiatives (current initiatives include Amazon, eBay, Uber). Work cross functionally (corporate and Field) to influence the entire team to understand, drive and execute all new growth initiatives. Proactively identify and fine tune all initiatives based on test store learnings and field feedback.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Identify “out of the box” growth initiatives that will transform the business.
• Research and recommend traditional initiatives to increase revenue and profit (in-store, online, commercial etc.).
• Build a robust pipeline of new commercial and fleet customers.
• Research and recommend non-traditional initiatives to increase revenue and profit.
• Based on financial modeling make recommendations to test promising growth initiatives.
• Establish clear success metrics for each growth initiatives with test and control store groups.
• Define and create operating procedures, job aides and other materials needed to successfully test any/all growth initiatives.
• Create the appropriate reporting for each test to track and communicate results, proactively work with field associates to get feedback and coach breakdowns in execution.
• Based on test store results, modify, stop or scale the each growth initiative with deliberate speed.
• Design and test a hybrid Express Technician model.
• Work cross functionally with Licensed Businesses to increase bay utilization.
Job Requirements:
• Able to work well in a group, cross functionally and independently
• Proven “out of the box thinker” with solid leadership and motivational skills
• Must have excellent written, listening and verbal/phone skills
• Excellent at problem resolution and decision-making
• Ability to follow through on multiple assignment and/or tasks
• Financial modeling and analysis
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Skills:
• Process simplification and improvement
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
