POSITION PURPOSE:
Monday - Friday 10am -6:30pm or as needed
Coordinate safety training and programs within all facility departments. Maintains records of compliance and facilitate accident and incident reporting. Provide a consistent presence in all areas of the facility to monitor and encourage safe work practices and security procedures. Conduct Safety, Loss Prevention, Food Defense audits and observations of employee work habits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Compliance:
• Prepares weekly compliance report for the Transportation Manager and Facility Safety Manager.
• Tracks DOT Hours of Service violations for file completion.
• Maintain environmental, DOT and safety records and reports.
• Conducts various audits and corrective action follow-up.
• Conduct employee observations to identify unsafe work habits.
Driver Management Online System (DMO):
• Assists HR Generalist in obtaining supporting documents for new Driver qualification files.
• Schedules road test for Driver candidates.
• Sets up Driver Qualification (DQ) files and scans file and maintains file.
• Builds and maintains qualification files for Lease Drivers.
• Monitors expiration dates of licenses and medical cards.
• Schedules license renewal and DOT physicals for drivers.
• Ensures bi-annual MVR is received and reviewed.
• Schedules and monitors drug and alcohol testing program. Verifies all supporting documents contain necessary details to ensure drivers are in compliance.
Training:
• Tracks the training program and ensures compliance.
• Assists in planning and conducting Safety Meetings.
Accident and Incident Reporting:
• Assembles accident and incident files including initial investigation.
• Enters accident and incident data into Merlin.
• Records all costs associated with accidents and incidents.
• Works with Risk Management and insurance carrier to monitor accidents and injury costs and follow-up on damages.
• Assists in post-accident training.
Other:
• Assists with preparation of safety bonus calculation/chart and awards list.
• Monitors roadside inspection violations. Ensures they are signed, addressed properly, and paid.
• Maintain a presence on the floor and be available to answer employee questions and seek employee input related to Safety, Loss Prevention or Food Defense.
• Other duties as assigned by the Facility Safety Manager.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location conducting inspections or facilitating Outside Contractor inspections of emergency equipment and systems.
Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma and/or equivalent related training and experience
Required Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the distribution center and transportation environments
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FDA and security procedures and/or related company policies
Experience Required:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field with DOT and OSHA compliance
• System implementation experience is preferred
Skills/Abilities:
• Computer skills related to office software – word processing, data entry, spreadsheets and presentations
