External Job Description
Responsible for ensuring adherence to development targets; calendar and process compliance; preempting potential risks by ensuring mitigation actions are in place; and ongoing improvement of developmental metrics and key performance indicators.
Duties:
Calendar
• Track milestones with actual dates versus projected by brand for Apparel/Non-Apparel for all functions
• Monitor Concurrent seasons
• Evolve future seasons as needed
• Summarize key milestone progress for reporting dashboard
Monitor upcoming milestones and potential risks to adherence
• Provide forward-looking view of risk
• Oversee creation and execution of mitigation plans with discrete owners and functional leader’s oversight (as needed)
Escalate issues via regular communication and weekly dashboards
• Assign issue mitigation plan and resolution to issue owner first
• Inform functional leaders of mitigation plan and ownership
• Follow up with functional leaders to ensure progress against action step
• Negotiate across functions to develop solutions when deliverables or milestones are at risk or missed
• Escalate issue to brand leadership in case of risk to issue resolution
Facilitate weekly cross-functional, cross-brand calendar meeting progress review
• Schedule and host weekly meeting with defined core, cross-functional team
• Distribute weekly meeting package with agenda, required and optional attendees, upcoming milestone update status, and summary of key notes and actions from prior week’s meeting (min. 2 working days in advance of meeting)
• Compile responses into upcoming milestone status table and redistribute completed package in meeting or via email for dial-in attendees
• Provide ongoing enhancement, management, publishing, and maintenance of the calendar
• Assemble core team with additional cross functional participants, as required, to develop future seasons
• Challenge sourcing teams to push lead time reduction targets; measure and report against progress each season
• Publish all calendar changes to key distribution list to ensure all functional areas are working from current version
• Own sub-process definition as required and dissemination to cross-functional teams
• Included but not limited to updates to current or new process e.g. speed strategy, raw material strategy, etc.
• Manage transition during process or calendar changes
• Ensure clear definition of past activities and future activities by functional area
• Drive adoption of key tools and adherence to PLC
• Highlight potential risks to achieving set targets and work with each team to establish mitigation plan
• Assign owner to each potential risk area and ensure clear mitigation strategy is developed
• Inform functional leaders of mitigation plan and ownership
• Follow up with functional leaders to ensure progress against action step
• Escalate issue to Brand Leadership and Chief Operating Officer in case of risk to issue resolution
• Drive developmental cost reductions across brands and product segments
Requirements
• Strong discipline to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; proven project management skills
• Strong, effective interpersonal written/oral communication and team skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Must possess demonstrated ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated troubleshooting/analysis/diagnostic skills, decision making skills and organizational skills
• Strong working knowledge of retail merchandise and project management tools
• Strong retail experience; 10+ years with a mix of buying, planning and/or operations experience
• Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university
