Position Summary
At CVS Health, we are a pharmacy innovation company focused on helping people on their path to better health. A core part of our strategy is to deliver the consumer Health and Beauty from the Heart in all our Marketing touch points and customer experiences. We are looking for innovative Marketing Director of Beauty to connect to our consumers through various media channels in an effort to drive beauty sales, customers, and preference in a fragmented space. This Marketing Director position will require a performance based Marketing proven leader who thinks big and pushes boundaries to drive business results. This role is ideal for a dynamic marketer with beauty brands and digital experience. They will have had experience developing innovative retail business solutions that have addressed Beauty category challenges and generated category growth in sales.
What you’ll do:
The Director of Beauty Marketing will lead a team that is responsible for creating marketing solutions in the beauty space, across media channels including traditional and digital. This team will set the annual Marketing calendar for beauty and will need to partner across the organization and externally to ensure the strategy is delivered consistently across owned, earned, and paid channels. You will simultaneously have a pulse on emerging trends, while engaging shoppers in the most relevant manner possible to them which in turn will result in increased store trips and loyalty. Partnering closely with senior merchant leaders in our beauty business you will help deliver business plans through insight based breakthrough marketing programs. You’ll also be responsible for developing relationships with key Consumer Product Goods partners to collaboratively "win" with shoppers by addressing their "unmet" shopper needs. Additionally, this leader will be accountable to driving measurable sales impact – an awareness and comfort level with Marketing analytics and performance based Marketing is key. This position requires a leader who also has a proven track record of testing and validating emerging marketing ideas along with experience leading a larger cross functional team. Given the nature and pace of beauty and digital, this leader must be able to lead and do.
Responsibilities:
Drive the overall marketing strategy and marketing plans for beauty (cosmetics, skin, and personal care), helping to deliver on business plans and objectives - - with a keen focus on optimizing what is working on and thinking big and broad about new ways to reach customers
Leads the development of annual beauty marketing plans in support of the merchant team and CPG partners, leveraging consumer insights and data to inform the mining and prioritization of consumer messaging that will drive sales and
preference
Developing marketing strategies to drive trips through rapid, emerging opportunities in the digital space including the strategic use to digital media products
You will become the trusted partner for category merchants by helping them to identify the unmet needs of our CVS Pharmacy consumer and share emerging trends with them in order to collaboratively solve for these barriers.
Drive sales changes, and develop creative strategies which will yield both sales and market share growth
Gain alignment on Shopper Marketing recommendations and strategies, working cross-functionally (both internally and externally) to ensure seamless integration and execution
Seamlessly pivot back and forth from providing thoughtful insight on strategic marketing efforts and day-to-day project management of campaigns in development with a keen sense of detail and organization skills, ensure the team is
carefully executing across multiple marketing channels, with a heavy focus on email, store signage, and owned websites as critical customer touch points Provide thought leadership to identify trends and implement best practices for
digital marketing, including analytics, SEM/SEO, email marketing, social
media marketing and content amplification
Build out plans that are not only focused on consumer growth and acquisition into the beauty category, but also partnering with the loyalty and personalization team to ensure we are reaching existing beauty customers at the right cadence, in the most effective marketing channels
Leads a results-oriented focus with team through partnership with Finance and Analytics to understand post-analysis measurement efforts against established metrics.
Develop partnerships with key CPG partners to develop and manage sales-driving cooperative brand-building and promotional strategies.
Proactive self-education around retail and marketing industry trends / best practices to identify opportunities that are consistent with, and reinforce the CVS Health brand.
A passion for beauty consumer behavior and digital innovation
Manage and develop direct reports.
Travel required: up to 20%.
Required Qualifications
*8+ years of marketing experience with a strong foundation of business, retailer, and consumer understanding. This includes driving the overall marketing strategy and plan for select front store business areas (i.e. Beauty and Personal Care) by leading the development and execution of Shopper Based marketing strategies and programs.
*6+ years cross-functional leadership experience.
*4+ years of retail marketing or retail agency/strategy experience.
*4+ years of digital marketing experience including examples of testing and validating emerging opportunities
*2+ years of loyalty marketing experience a plus
*Proven track record of the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external business partners in delivery ROI positive results.
*Intellectual curiosity and rigorous analytical experience and a strong familiarity with the digital environment ·
*Self-motivated, high capacity individual who can function and win in a demanding, performance-driven environment.
*Excellent communication skills that can be effectively articulated in both written and oral forms across a diverse audience base.
*Creative problem solver who can incorporate new learnings into existing plans and act decisively and independently.
*Strong PC knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience in the Marketing function at a Beauty brand, particularly an emerging digital brand
Education
*Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field required.
*MBA preferred
