GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director of Investor & Media Relations will partner with the Investor & Media Relations team in developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive investor and media relations program. This leadership role has high visibility with senior management and requires an energetic team player as well as someone who is a strong individual contributor.
The Director of Investor & Media Relations will report to the Vice President of Investor & Media Relations and will also work closely with the Senior Manager of Investor & Media Relations and Chief Financial Officer of the Company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Work with the Investor & Media Relations team and the Chief Financial Officer to develop core investor communications strategies and messages, ensuring that these are driven consistently through all internal and external communication vehicles.
• Prepare all quarterly earnings materials, including press releases, conference call scripts, key messages, potential Q&A and financial analyses. Develop all materials related to investor presentations (road shows, conferences, investor meetings and annual meetings).
• Maintain and develop relationships with buy- and sell-side analysts, portfolio managers and investors to promote an understanding of the Company’s business and strategies, and to increase awareness and visibility of Ross Stores as an investment alternative.
• Perform regular analyses of key economic indicators and summarize trends relevant to the retail industry.
• Analyze competitor performance to create industry trend reports.
• Track market conditions, opinions, attitudes and reactions to the Company and the retail sector as they affect the value of the Company’s stock.
• Build internal financial models analyzing trends related to sales, profitability, inventory and other key financial metrics.
• Assist in responding to all inquiries from financial and local media. Partner with Real Estate, Marketing, and Corporate Social Responsibility on public relations press releases for select new store openings, community giving programs, and other non-financial communications efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business management, or a related field
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive, demonstrated experience in a functional area with finance/analytical focus, preferably including at least five years of investor relations or buy-side/sell-side experience
• Demonstrated record of excellent financial acumen and analytical/quantitative abilities with proven financial communications skills
• Working knowledge of and a high degree of interest in equity markets, securities, SEC disclosure regulations, and best practices in investor relations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
• Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
• Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
• Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
