Position Summary
The Director, Pharmacy Quality & Safety is a key leader in thePharmacy Professional Services organization. This role is responsible for leading a number of important programsdesigned to ensure that the highest levels of safety and quality pharmaceuticalcare are delivered across our 9,600+ community pharmacy practice settings. As such, this role is responsible for leadingefforts to continuously improve dispensing accuracy through the development andexecution of an annual Patient Safety Plan for the retail pharmacyorganization. Using data analytics toidentify existing or emergent patient safety and quality risks and thedevelopment /implementation of new processes, programs, training and systemenhancements to mitigate or eliminate those risks is a central component of thework that this role will lead. This teamis also responsible for supporting stores and Field Leadership in incidentrecovery efforts as needed. This Leaderwill plays an important role in shaping and promoting a culture of safety inour stores through the adoption of cultivation of “Just Culture” principles.
This Leader is also responsible managing our current suite of pharmacyquality programs, to include: pharmacy compounding quality, REMS programquality, and our professional accreditation programs. CVS/pharmacy currently the only nationalpharmacy chain to have earned Community Pharmacy Accreditation from URAC.Additionally, we are DMEPOS Accredited through the National Association ofBoards of Pharmacy. This role isresponsible for managing the accreditation renewal process as well asmaintaining our day-to-day relationship with these organizations. Ensuring ourretail pharmacy practice remains compliant with the quality standardsestablished by each organization is a key responsibility for this role.
The Director, Pharmacy Quality & Safety is responsible formonitoring the quality of the pharmaceutical care and services provided by ourteam of community pharmacists. As such,this role will lead the creation of a newly formed auditing function utilizinga variety of auditing methods designed to assess the overall quality of thepharmacy services provided to our customers. In this capacity, this individual will play an important role in thecreation of key metrics, score cards, accountability programs and incentiveplans designed to promote continuous quality improvement across our fleet ofretail pharmacies.
This individual will be responsible for the leadership and professionaldevelopment of a team of talented quality and patient safety professionals. Additionally this Leader will routinelypartner and collaborate with leaders in Field Leadership, Legal, RiskManagement, Enterprise Patient Safety Department, Pharmacy Operations,Enterprise Analytics and Customer Relations. This role interacts with members of Sr. Leadership on a regular cadence.
The successful candidate must be able to engage and inspire their teamand others to effectively and efficiently meet or exceed all performance goalsand objects set forth as part of the team’s agenda. This individual must be able to effectivelypersuade and influence across multiple levels of leadership using facts and well-reasonedcases. The individual must have polishedexecutive presence and be comfortable presenting to, and interacting withmembers of our Sr. Leadership team.
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
