Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Automotive Services Director is responsible for the growth of Automotive sales by playing a major role in the integration of the
Merchandising and Operations functions to ensure that both areas are working together to most effectively develop the business. This position also defines the services offered in the stores and sets the strategy and direction for the developing and managing processes,
along with products and pricing, in order to continually grow the business and ensure its competitiveness in the industry.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops operational, service, and customer strategies and initiatives to gain a competitive edge
• Travels the field and works with Regional Managers, Region teams, and District Managers to continue the integration of Auto into
the Full-Line Stores.
• Works cross functionally with the Store Support team
• Serves as a representative for the service organization, and helps identify and communicate the needs of the organization to
management
• Utilizes knowledge and support of the Operations and Merchandising areas to develop process, product, and pricing requirements
necessary to drive business success
• Serves as a communication bridge between the service organization, Merchandising, Operations, and Corporate Headquarters to
ensure all groups are working together
• Oversees development of current and new service processes (e.g., oil change, brake service) to grow and support the business
• Identifies and addresses opportunities to improve productivity and processes by doing internal research (e.g., talking with
Sears associates regarding improvements/barriers) and doing external research (e.g., benchmarking with other companies and
maintaining/developing industry contacts)
• Review and enhance compensation programs at all levels of the field automotive organization. Works closely with the Director of
Human Resources in program rollouts
• Assists in the Annual Revenue and Profit planning for the field organization, focusing on expense and payroll planning
• Serves as a resource for District Managers and Region Managers for resolving problems regarding business policies and
procedures
• Performs supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to: making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting,
demoting, and terminating; conducting performance appraisals; and coaching and developing associates
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors Degree
• Over 10 years of related experience
• Valid Driver License for the State of employment
• Up to 25% travel
• 18 years of age or older
