This role focuses on our Blackboard Transact™platform which helps improve student experience and campus safety, while streamlining business operations and increasing revenue. The Blackboard Transact platform includes capabilities within two integrated modules:
• Commerce Management: facilitates campus ID card issuance, cashless payment processing, account management and reporting on-campus, off-campus, and online.
• Security Management: monitors all campus activity using integrated door access control, video surveillance and mass notification capabilities.
As Product Manager, you will be responsible for working with other Product Managers and stakeholders to drive the design, build-out, and market release of Blackboard Transact’s next generation of credential-based applications used by millions of students and faculty around the world. Specific responsibilities will include:
• Providing subject matter expertise in the security product space of Transact
• Collaborating and interacting with executive leadership and other functional departments in defining product direction, determining work priorities, and designing functional enhancements
• Executing typical high technology product definition cycle steps of elicitation, analysis, specification, and validation while considering and leveraging industry standards and best practices when appropriate
◦ Eliciting requirements- gathering category and product input from sources such as customers, prospects, sales representatives, users, competitors, and industry bodies
◦ Analyzing inputs- decomposing inputs into usable product features
◦ Synthesizing artifacts- defining use cases; outlining information model; articulating business rules; building business plans
◦ Accounting for other constraints- legal and regulatory; accessibility; maintainability; performance; scalability; usability
• Working closely with Product Development in the design and development phases of product development
• Developing relationships and working closely with integration partners
• Performing competitive analysis for responsible products
• Participating in the final functional test before release and approval of product releases
• Maintaining and communicating product roadmaps
• Managing the responsible product lines to meet corporate and division strategic and financial goals
The Candidate:
Required skills:
• Has a bachelor’s degree in a relevant major such as Business, IT, or Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Has an interest in and aptitude for business strategy and considerations, the latest concepts in product design, and an understanding of the latest technologies in the web and cloud computing areas
• Has experience in the physical security field related to electronic door access, alarm management, and/or video surveillance
• Can conceptualize features and functionality from idea stage to implementation and communicate complex information to different target audiences
• Can travel up to 30%
