CUMULUS MEDIA | Atlanta, GA is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller at the Corporate Office. The Assistant Controller will lead the accounting teams for our Radio Station Group, Westwood One Network, Programming Department and Corporate/Shared Services Group. This role will have oversight for various accounting functions including general ledger, internal controls, internal financial reporting, balance sheet account reconciliations and internal/external audit coordination. Additionally, the role will be responsible for creating, implementing and refining policies and procedures to optimize efficiencies related to close activities. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and work closely with the CFO, other finance, accounting and functional leaders and provide key support to the business unit leaders and field personnel.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the general accounting function for the Radio Station Group, Westwood One Network, Programming and Corporate/Shared Services teams. This includes journal entries, adjusting entries, maintenance of the general ledger and the associated sub-ledgers, internal financial reporting, and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Ensure all company financial records are properly maintained and that all accounting and internal financial reporting is in compliance with US GAAP, including ensuring the implementation of new guidance is appropriately planned, documented, tested, communicated, and implemented timely and accurately
• Ensure SOX policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place and working to provide assurance that the Company’s assets are protected and financial reports are accurate. The role is responsible for the documentation and periodic update of internal controls
• Responsible for the consolidation and review of financial results, identification, research and reporting of variances, and for providing executive leadership with information that enhances their understanding of the financial results
• Coordination of client requests from both internal and external auditors
• Evaluating current processes and suggesting, implementing and refining policies and procedures to optimize efficiencies related to close activities
• Partnering with IT to assist with financial system implementations and upgrades
• Training and development of the Internal Financial Reporting team. Ensuring the team is led, resourced, informed, and supported to allow them to perform their duties at a high level
Experience and Requirements:
• CPA required
• 10-15 years of experience required
• Combination of Big 4 (manager level minimum) and corporate experience required
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Process oriented but also strong analytical skills
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to challenge the status quo and drive change
• Proven and demonstrable ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Honesty, integrity, and collaborative attitude are critical
