We’re looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to help us shape the future of education. As HR Business Partner, you will be a key partner to Blackboard’s Product Development organization, supporting a 600+ person global technology organization. Your ownership and accountability will be broad, reaching with influence over all aspects of the development organization. You’ll complete daily tactical responsibilities, coach managers on organizational and people-related issues, and contribute strategically to the business.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• Employee Relations:
◦ Providing guidance and advice to management and employees in the interpretation of company policies, local labor laws, procedures, and programs. Analyzing, diagnosing, and helping implement proper solutions for complex employee relations issues, taking into consideration business needs, respective local labor law, and specific circumstances
◦ Conducting investigations and partnering with Legal as appropriate
◦ Assisting in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans
◦ Counseling management in preparation for employee terminations; conducting exit interviews as necessary
• Workforce Management & Staffing:
◦ Working closely with the Global Talent Acquisition team, Finance, and internal clients to understand staffing needs, key open positions, retention risks, skills gaps, and effective organization structure including working with the business and Finance on budget tracking
◦ Providing guidance on the creation of job descriptions and job analysis
• Professional Development:
◦ Assisting managers in identifying talent, diagnosing learning needs, and planning for appropriate personal and career development opportunities
◦ Advising managers in the establishment, communication, and evaluation of employee goals; supporting managers in coaching employees including our Performance Management System
• Organizational Development:
◦ Serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance, constructive feedback, and consulting on all aspects of talent management, organization design, role design, workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement
◦ Leading, planning, and managing organizational analysis, process improvement, and change management for maximum effectiveness and employee engagement
• Compensation & Benefits:
◦ Partnering with management and the Compensation team on job titling and leveling in service of promotions, bonus plans, and career progression
◦ Answering routine benefits questions and referring employees to appropriate resources
◦ Supporting administration of leaves in partnership with Corporate Benefits team
The Candidate:
• Has 8+ years progressive HR generalist and/or business partner experience with global teams
• Has a bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related discipline
• Can succeed in an entrepreneurial, service-oriented environment with multiple office locations across the globe; has experience working with diverse populations
• Has a strong understanding of traditional HR tools: staffing, organization design, performance management, HR measurement, and legal compliance
• Has solid experience in employee relations, investigations, accommodations, etc.
• Can navigate complex employee situations
• Is both strategic and tactical
• Has strong influencing and coaching skills for leaders and managers on handling a variety of workplace issues and concerns
• Is proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• Has superior communication and consulting skills
• Can travel as needed
