WLTX is looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape and investigative news. The intern who fills this position will serve a pivotal role in our working newsroom. They will not be watching news happen, but will be trained, coached and mentored on how to become a news leader in innovation and storytelling. They will spend most days doing research for day-turn and long-term stories using social metrics and data mining. Their content will be used on all WLTX news platforms. The intern will leave this position with experience creating innovative, interactive and relevant local news content for all platforms, while building their own personal portfolio.
Responsibilities:
• Compile online database and social media information
• Write and create investigative day-turn stories
• Research, write and create investigative week-long stories
• Create content that can live on all platforms (web, social, broadcast)
Job Requirements
Requirements:
Students applying should be a journalism or information science major with experience digging for information. Applicants should also have a solid understanding of journalism ethics and have experience creating content for social media. Students must be able to spend at least 12 hours a week at WLTX.
Majors:
Broadcast journalism, Multimedia Journalism, Library and Information Science, Mass Communications.
