Job Summary
The Technical Writer will be part of the CenturyLink SDN/NFV team. This position will require close collaboration and communication with the agile development team, product management, engineering and operations representatives. The position will have an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.
Job Description
• Create and maintain the technical documentation for the CenturyLink SDN/NFV development group, including architecture, specifications, processes, installation instructions, support procedures and other materials for the NFV infrastructure.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of target audiences, including technical operations and development teams.
• Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and by using the products in a lab environment.
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of illustrations, sketches, diagrams, charts and screen captures.
Qualifications
• 5+ years technical writing experience or training experience or a combination
• Demonstrable Experience in acquiring and verifying subject matter content by interviewing software developers, observing production methods, referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications.
• Demonstrable Experience in using web-based Knowledge Management Systems to produce and maintain documentation, help define and maintain an effective documentation organization
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability and experience in working effectively with teams but also independently or with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrable Experience with writing technical content for procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications that describes the installation, operation, and maintenance of software applications, using and applying clear and concise language.
• Experience in defining and reviewing graphics, photographs, tables, figures, and engineering drawings and/or create graphic materials using screen capture tools, Microsoft PowerPoint, and web-based graphic design tools.
