The Digital Media Editor is responsible for executing a creative, stylized look across News 12 Lifestyle or Varsity pieces. Working to ensure the content is fun, engaging and impactful to our viewers. The role combines creativity, acute attention to detail and knowledge of cutting for a digital audience. You will work (on an as needed basis) independently and collaborate with senior staff to assemble raw material into a cohesive and entertaining finished product. Understand the vision of each project through all phases of production including shooting your own video, with an emphasis on making each piece come to life in post-production. Use video, sound, music, graphics and effects to convey stories in a logical and energetic sequence. Proficient in creating graphics and effect elements and editing video/sound using Adobe Creative Cloud products, specifically Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop. Strong sense of storytelling, timing, cutting to music and how to best convey the established vision of each piece.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Digital Media preferred, Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 1-year experience as an editor.
• Must have a strong understanding of styles being used in digital productions.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud products, specifically Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop.
• Should be able to shoot, particularly familiar with DSLR cameras.
• Background in lifestyle or sports content a plus.
• Ability to perform many tasks simultaneously under pressure and on deadline.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be highly organized and possess time management skills.
