OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Responsible for accounting and reporting of all AMC Networks Inc. entities including: Domestic Programming Networks, International Programming Networks; Film/Studios/Theater Co.’s and Corporate entities. Leading a team of approximately 35 accountants.
Duties & Responsiblities:
• Ensure the accuracy of the books and records of the Company at the management, tax, and external (regulatory and SEC) reporting levels.
• Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual financial deadlines are met on a timely basis.
• Responsible for the review and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements of the business units, business segments and consolidated results in accordance with US GAAP.
• Required to certify to the following on a quarterly basis:
◦ Forms 10-Q and 10-K external auditor questionnaire
◦ AMC Networks debt compliance
◦ Sub certification related to the Forms 10Q and Form 10-K
◦ Sox 302 and 404 certifications
• Manage the External and Internal Audit relationship as the primary point of contact for the Controllership Organization.
• Advises management of opportunities for efficiencies in business units as well as in the accounting function itself.
• Oversee all accounting strategies and activities, including implementation of new accounting standards.
• Reviews comparisons of actual results to budget/forecast to ensure reasonableness and completeness
• Direct/review all accounting, reporting and special project activities for AMC Networks, Inc.
• Responsible for the hiring, supervision, development, and motivation of professional accounting staff of approximately 35 accountants
• Consult on technical issues related to complex transactions and prepare technical memorandums to support accounting conclusions which are ultimately agreed to by external auditors.
• Manage and monitor internal control over financial reporting, including enterprise compliance with the SOX.
• Work with information technology to ensure that Company has the appropriate IT infrastructure to effectively and efficiently meet its accounting and financial reporting and associated internal control requirements.
• Review business contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment. Contracts types include the affiliation agreements, advertising sales arrangements, film productions, joint ventures, international programming/affiliation contracts, leases, licensing arrangements, talent arrangements, acquisitions and divestitures, settlement arrangements, severance agreements, etc.
• Meet quarterly with finance and in-house counsel to ensure compliance with technical covenants of bank debt and indentures. As circumstances arise (e.g. contracts, formation of new entities, funding of businesses), present matters for review to treasury for compliance with covenants.
• Ensure financial system conversions meet all internal audit, external audit , SOX and accounting requirements to assure accuracy of the data and consistent financial controls.
• Coordinate all cash movements between the businesses in collaboration with Treasury.
• Participate in the preparation of strategic and tactical plans for the business units by providing accounting support, reviewing budgets and forecasts and providing input relating to unique industry requirements.

• Demonstrable success in accounting and control which includes experience in the media & entertainment industry.

Technical/Functional Competencies
• A minimum of a BS degree in Accounting/Finance and a CPA
• MBA degree is a plus
• Minimum 15 years of accounting experience
• 10+ years supervisory experience
• Big-4 Public/private background
• Experience in media & entertainment industry is a plus
