Products & Reviews Assistant, GoodHousekeeping.com
GoodHousekeeping.com is looking for an enthusiastic Products & Reviews Assistant with a passion for covering the best deals and products across home, appliances, health, beauty, and parenting for the digital arm of the world’s largest women’s lifestyle magazine. Reporting to the Deputy Editor, the ideal candidate will be ready to work alongside the scientists and analysts in the 100-year-old Good Housekeeping Institute and dig into data to develop strategic insights and create content that will help us reach our commerce goals (and help readers find products they’ll love).
This person will work with Hearst’s SEO team, commerce team, and the Good Housekeeping Institute experts to produce info-packed and spotlessly accurate content around consumer products that also feels fun and highly sharable. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a strong writer, with a mix of editorial and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Writing, producing, and/or updating as many as 5 product-focused pieces of content daily — including shopping news and advice, sales roundups, and one-off articles on the best deals and buzzy products — in a way that is voice-y, highly shareable, search-optimized, and smartly packaged
• Assisting top editors with research and reporting
• Building product-related print stories for the web
• Liaising with the Good Housekeeping Institute’s product experts to help build out testing results
• Ensuring all product/commerce content is optimized for search and affiliate
• Staying on top of new and trending products in the lifestyle space
• Assisting with product- and service-focused videos and social media tasks
Qualifications:
• 1-2 years’ experience creating lifestyle content, preferably at a digital-first outlet
• Can turn in clean and concise copy
• Familiarity working in a CMS and with analytics tools such as Looker and Google Analytics
• Understanding of SEO and best practices for optimizing content for the web
• Knowledge of social media best practices and an innate understanding of what types of products and product categories resonate with readers on various platforms (in other words, you can spot a item on Amazon and know instantly that it has viral potential)
• An ability to shift gears quickly in a daily web publishing environment
• A team player who is proactive, organized, enthusiastic, and deadline-oriented, and willing to pitch in whenever needed
• Experience producing multimedia and/or knowledge of video- or photo-editing platforms a plus
