About the Position
The Data Analytics team has an opening for a Data Engineering Intern to work 40 hours per week this summer. This position is unpaid and for-credit only! You must be eligible to receive academic credit.This is a great opportunity for career advancement.
The Data Analytics team serves a critical role in the company with stakeholders covering Marketing (Book Marketing, Audience Development, Website Content), Tech & Product, Editorial Ops, Sales & Business Development divisions. The primary goal of Data Analytics team is to convert data into values and to inform different business decisions across company by building reports, analyses, and data products.
Data engineering serves as a foundation for the entire Data Analytics team by building and maintaining a data infrastructure stack that is stable, reliable and scalable. The Data Engineering Intern will work closely with the Data Analysts and Developers from the Tech team to create robust ETL pipelines as well as design and build architectures for different data products.

• Excellence in time management and delivering works in a tight deadline
• Systematic thinking with capability of considering edge cases and boundary conditions
• Able to dig into all the systems to track and investigate the bug when things break
• Eager to learn and try new data engineering technology
Skills and Qualifications
• Proficient in SQL and Python languages
• ETL or pipeline design and implementation
• Hands-on experience in relational databases and complex query authoring (e.g. Redshift, MySQL)
• Knowledge of AWS products (e.g. S3, EC2)
• Version control with git
• Must be able to work out of our office located in the Financial District in Manhattan
• Bonus: Knowledge of setting up and using open source Airflow as a script scheduling solution
• Bonus: NoSQL database experience such as MongoDB
• Bonus: Serverless implementation (e.g. lambda)
