ABOUT ENCORE BOSTON HARBOR
Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort that will feature 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. At a total cost of $2.5 billion, it is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth. Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, Encore Boston Harbor will include a six-acre park along the water that will feature a harborwalk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk.

The Encore Boston Harbor Security Assistant Shift Managerwill be responsible for coordinating security activity, monitoring security staff, maintaining security protection for the property and company assets. The Assistant manager will assist guests/customers and Team Members as needed and shall be responsible to maintain order and maintaining order in both the interior and exterior areas of the hotel. The Assistant Manager shall be responsible to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees by enforcing security policies and procedures and properly supervising the Security Guard force.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
• Assists the Manager with creating work schedules and assigns Security staff to various posts and locations according to job requirements and the officer’s abilities, skills and experience.
• Observes the Security staff to evaluate and document their performance and correct any deficiencies observed.
• Ensures that posted Security Officers are provided relief.
• Notify the Manager or his/her designee of significant events that require his/her attention whether he/she is on or off property.
• Assumes Shift Managers responsibilities during his/her absence.
• Notify executive management, law enforcement or corporate investigations whenever an incident requires it.
• Assists with coordinating emergency response to critical incidents on property.
• Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills as well as excellent attention to detail.
• Creates and maintains work and vacation schedules.
• Ensures that all security reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
• Knowledgeable of local laws concerning arrest and detention of suspected criminals detained on property.
• Enforces progressive disciplinary measures on staff members as necessary.
• Directly supervise Security Shift Supervisors.
• Maintain the dress code and appearance standards of all Department members and make immediate corrections when necessary.
• Resolve incidents involving guests as well as employees.
• In all situations, ensure that Security staff members treat all guests in a courteous and professional manner reflective of the Encore standards.
• Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, this position must be able to work varying shifts, if necessary, to reflect the business needs of the company.
• Monitors all activities of the department to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide are enforced.
• Assists management to ensure department delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction.
• Facilitates communication throughout the property by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all team members within the department and with other departments as appropriate to ensure property wide communication.
• Keeps informed of all new developments within the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and company success.
• Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
• Maintains high Team Member morale and good customer relations.
• Analyzes security needs, estimates costs, and presents proposals to the Shift Manager.
• Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.
• Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Security Manager.
Job Requirements

Age, Gaming and Certifications:
21 years of age or above.
Will be required to obtain and maintain a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Must be able to acquire and maintain any licenses or active work cards required for this position at all times.
Education and/or Experience:
High school degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in law enforcement, military, special event, loss prevention, hotel, gaming or physical site security required, 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
Requires general computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
