The Mgr Inventory Operations is responsible for leading all strategic and operational functions for the Inventory Operations team supporting multiple distribution channels and supply chain departments. Key to this role is managing Supply Chain and Logistics related field support functions. These support functions include leading creative solutions to critical sales exceptions, rapid disaster recovery for supply chain system failures, minimizing customer and channel impact from global supply constraints, and quickly addressing issues from surprise launches of new devices. Also, critical to the role is the ability to create and lead temporary exception processes while developing robust standardized processes and change management plans to seamlessly transition permanent solutions to other teams.
Develop and maintain key partnerships with leadership from each channel in the field, MCSO, and customer service up to VP levels to balance Supply Chain key initiatives with overall corporate objectives. A strong understanding of strategic vision combined with keen judgment is required to prioritize inventory needs between channels and mediate when supply is limited to maximize benefit to the company. Strong business acumen is also necessary to ensure we provide the ideal customer experience while balancing financial objectives for obsolescence, inventory revaluation, and loss on equipment.
This position improves processes and modifies policies to reduce distractions for all Supply Chain related activities while ensuring appropriate controls and costs are within budget. The position is also responsible for developing creative supply chain solutions to increase sales while prioritizing multiple initiatives requiring the same resources.
Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Resolves conflicts and collaborates with internal partners up to the Executive level to ensure the field has the best experience with the Device Supply Chain team by understanding specific needs in context to various strategies, prioritizing appropriately, continually evaluating processes and gaining efficiencies through improvements.
• Evaluate escalated issues and influence leaders’ decision made through impactful written and verbal communication.
• Understand the long term product and service roadmap to enhance processes in advance to prevent customer disruption. Be able to anticipate execution challenges in other teams’ plans.
• Develop and lead supply chain solutions to accommodate complex one-time events or solve unique problems to save large business or government accounts. Often these solutions must be created within hours.
• Responsible for maintaining the relationship with the field and ensuring feedback loops are available for each channel to improve customer service.
• Manages and prioritizes the need for new or updated field communication and policy/procedural documentation. Lead the business processes to make appropriate system enhancements required for long term resolution. Aids in system discrepancy resolution by partnering with business partners and system support teams.
• Responsible for overall inventory related SOX controls and making recommendations to changing controls as business processes change.
• Manages budget and relationships with third party vendors for the Physical Count processes for all company owned retail locations. Ensure all counts are completed properly, on-time, and on-budget.
• Partners with key business functions in the corporate office to continually improve processes for the field while mediating between all parties to ensure the ideal outcome is established.
• Manages the inventory constraint process for the Agent channel as well as all unplanned inventory management opportunities including the GATP module in SAP APO.
• Mentors team in being a model change agent for the field as well as the business as a whole.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business or related field required. MBA preferred
• 7-10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or related field required (i.e. Retail)
• Deep understanding of supply chain concepts to apply the correct solution to a give problem. Understand when textbook or rule of thumb solutions are not applicable.
• Ability to understand corporate and various department strategies to properly prioritize requests and influence others to make the best overall business decisions.
• Ability to quickly resolve escalated inquiries from all levels of the organization required, often with incomplete information.
• Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
• Advanced analytical skills.
• Strong problem solving, influencing, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to identify the correct audience and use the correct communication method.
• Experience with SAP/ECC or other advanced planning systems and Point of Sale (POS) system required.
• Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is required (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
• May travel 5% - 15% of the year.
