Join MedPage Today Editorial staff as a writer responsible for transforming our newsbriefs into quarter-credit News CME! The Medical Writer will actively collaborate with MPT writers to identify clinical practice gaps and create excellent content for medical education activities. This person can be based either in a home office or in the MPT newsroom in New York City.
As a key member of the MPT Editorial team, appropriate candidates must develop and maintain knowledge of important clinical issues and industry trends. The candidate must be able to accurately and swiftly rework a news article into a longer CME exercise, including writing questions for post-test, churning out CME content at a rate of 10 articles per week.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in the MedPage Today content management system CMS to post and edit their work. Previous experience with a CMS is not required, however, MPT will provide the necessary training.
Desired skills and experience include:
• Advanced degree a plus but not at all required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in medical and healthcare writing / editing
• Positive, upbeat personality who communicates concisely and clearly, both written and verbal.
• Motivated to work independently as well as part of a team in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations overseeing medical education
• Solid background and experience in various therapeutic areas
• Adept at researching, compiling, and analyzing clinical and scientific evidence quickly.
• Significant experience designing, writing, and editing clinical content for healthcare professionals.
• Solid editorial (writing and editing) skills and capability to adapt editorial style based on the educational format and/or the target audience (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals).
• Familiarity with AMA Style
