OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Responsible for overall accounting for the AMC National Network entities, including AMC, WEtv, Sundance, IFC, BBCA with a primary focus in the area of revenue recognition as well as program rights, which includes film and owned / licensed original productions. Responsible for interaction with operations, AMC Networks finance, legal, tax and third parties to ensure complete understanding of complex nature of the relationships and the appropriate accounting for these transactions, of which some may include various foreign currencies. Responsible for preparation of monthly journal entries, including accounting for programming content, as well as balance sheet and income statement account analysis.
Responsible for review of journal entries and account analysis prepared by senior accountants.
Review Payment Authorization and Control Forms ("PAC") and Wire requests to ensure proper general ledger coding, proper approval levels and adequacy of the supporting documentation.
Responsible for preparation of quarterly reporting package schedules for internal and external reporting purposes.
Meet with internal and external auditors and provide requested support as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyze the monthly results and variance reporting to management. Necessitates a high level of understanding of the operation of the business units to which the candidate is assigned, through continual communication with superiors, business unit department heads, business analysts, and managing director(s); this understanding reflected in comprehensive and meaningful budget and forecast vs. actual analysis.
• Review contracts related to program rights and revenue and evaluate for appropriate accounting treatment.
• Maintenance and review of complete, up to date balance sheet and income statement analysis for all general ledger accounts.
• Evaluate and identify areas of potential exposure and internal control weakness.
• Responsible for review and completion of quarterly reporting packages.
• Prepare journal entries and review and approve general ledger journal entries of staff.
• Review and approve PAC forms, purchase requisitions and wires (business unit approval, coding, proper backup).
• Special projects as assigned.

Technical/Functional Competencies
• Minimum 4 years accounting experience
• Minimum 1 year in a supervisory role
• CPA strongly desired
• Very strong analytical skills
• Ability to multi task and follow up
Key Experiences/Achievements
• Must have shown upward mobility in prior work experience(s)
• Must have strong academic credentials
• CPA strongly desired
• Must be proficient in Excel and possess knowledge of automated environments
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting strongly desired
