Summary
The ED, Health & Safety is accountable for providing leadership and strategic vision for Health, and Safety functions of the enterprise, both domestic and internationally. The Health and Safety group is responsible for leading and measuring Health Safety efforts, implementing compliance management systems, auditing compliance, developing training for employees, increasing Health and Safety awareness and developing sustainability programs for the organization. The group works very closely with Corporate, Divisional, and Regional leadership to spread the culture of safety. The ED Health & Safety is ultimately responsible for maintaining the company's occupational health and ensuring regulatory compliance and legal requirements both domestically and internationally.
Primary Roles/Responsibilities
-Lead, develop, implement, and maintain/measure Health and Safety programs, policies and procedures based on leading indicators and actions.
-Establish standards to provide guidance on how to comply with all federal, state, and regional regulatory requirements both domestically and internationally.
-Lead, promote the organization while building a positive safety culture focus on influencing behaviors of divisions and regions.
-Assist in the development of Health and Safety policies and procedures for all Comcast employees.
-Ensure proper safety records retention, analyze trends, report on statistics, and manage non-compliance across divisions and regions.
-Oversee and manage all near misses, accident investigations, and reporting.
-Lead the development and execution of Health and Safety protocols, processes, and governance programs.
-Own and manage overall Health and Safety budget.
-Partner with Risk Management to develop goals, forecasting and allocation of risk related expense reduction.
-Partner with Business Continuity on applicable policies, procedures and programs. Current examples include Emergency Activation Plans and AED/CPR/first aid programs.
-Provide guidance for Divisional and Regional processes and activities including compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
-Analyze metrics and evaluations of Health and Safety statistics and incidents to evaluate trends and establish programs for improvement.
-Provide feedback, guidance and subject matter expertise on Health and Safety performance to senior leaders in the Comcast Corporation.
-Attend relevant industry conferences and professional meetings as necessary.
-Ensure accuracy of record keeping on accident, training and complaint, and training materials.
-Prepare and maintain required documentation for internal and outside counsel, as requested.
-Oversee the development of training and education programs which includes compliance to regulatory requirements for U.S. regulators and international regulators.
-Direct the review and management of all safety equipment and supply needs, recommending replacement and new equipment purchases, and ensure required inspections of personal protective equipment are conducted in coordination with divisions and regions.
-Ensure that programs and procedures are in place to respond to all complaints and/or identification of safety hazards in a timely manner with proper prioritization.
-Evaluate hazardous conditions and practices and develop appropriate preventive control programs and procedures.
-Oversee all injuries, incidents and related investigations and provide direction and oversight for workers compensation case management.
-Oversee maintenance of the OSHA 300 log and other reporting requirements.
-Review key performance indicators for Health and Safety and ensure they are modified/updated on an annual basis.
-Ability to foster effective working relationships cross functional leadership teams, both domestically and internationally, including: Facilities, Business Continuity, Human Resources, Claims Management, Risk Management, Legal, Customer Care and Field Engineering & Technical Operations to reduce exposure to the enterprise.
-Oversee audits of internal Health and Safety compliance throughout the Comcast Corporation.
-Own management of third-party Health and Safety service providers.
-Participate in development and maintenance of the Company Total Worker Health program
-Partner with Health Services and the Leave Management team on cross-functional programming and procedures focusing on business processes that contribute to the Health & Safety of our workforce.
-Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
-Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
-A Bachelor's degree in a Health and Safety, Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; 10+ years of Health and Safety management experience; or professional experience in role(s) commensurate to degree.
-Minimum 2 years of experience with international Health and Safety accountability.
-Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams in a decentralized organization.
-Managerial ability to anticipate competing priorities and quickly identify and engage the appropriate resources necessary to affect accurate and meaningful solutions.
Preferred
-Master's degree in Science or Health and Safety related technical field.
-CSP or other Health and Safety related certification.
-Knowledge of HazMat and DOT.
