Our UX Architect will be an integral part of the agile tech team, from concept to deployment.
You’ll work with our product team and clients, researching new features for our content creation platform, and designing how our web product behaves by creating wireframes and workflow diagrams. Communication will be key (visual and verbal), as well as flexibility as we navigate awesome new ways to improve and change our tech.
Over the course of your first year at Skyword, you’ll also become a product expert, so that you can be capable of answering questions from developers, QA engineers, and the services teams. This position is located in our Pittsburgh, PA office.
What we need from you technically
• A user-centered design approach, with the ability to rapidly test and iterate design solutions
• Work in, and promote a user-centered product vision aligning with overall business goals
• Ability to analyze the current platform to identify usability and design problems, and create elegant, testable solutions
• Translate test results into presentable reports to enable effective and user-centered decision making
• Collaborate with the product team to create user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes and prototypes that lead to intuitive, simple and elegant interaction design solutions
Your approach to solving problems
• Understand and advocate for our users, their needs and challenges
• Dare to take risks, reframe existing ideas and come up with new ones to challenge the status quo where needed
• Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features
• Initiate, actively participate in, and lead ideation sessions
• Influence the product team and the overall organization to achieve solutions that are right for our users
• Work with product management and visual design team members to refine user experiences
• Understand our competitors and their products
What this role requires
• 4-5 years professional experience required in designing for enterprise web applications and SaaS platforms
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles as they apply to web-based applications
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present design ideas to members of the development and QA teams
• Solid decision-making skills and the ability to articulate your reasoning
• Previous work experience as an Information Architect, User Experience Designer/Architect, Business Analyst, or Interaction Designer
What we would like to see
• Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design (or related field) preferred
• Experience with content management systems and social networking platforms
• Understanding of the content marketing space and search engine optimization (SEO)
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies
• Experience using JIRA, Axure, Balsamiq, Invision, or other prototyping tools
• Online portfolio with sample deliverables
