Requirements
Position Description:
Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to assist the Director of Advertising and Promotion as well as the Marketing Manger of Advertising and Promotion in the graphic design and strategic execution of advertising campaigns in support of book titles from various children’s imprints.
Main responsibilities include assisting the department with the creation and execution of advertising campaigns, including copywriting and designing for native digital advertising, as well as helping to maintain performance reports with conversion and sales information and advertising insights. The coordinator will help with the design and production of retail displays, consumer convention items, and marketing collateral for Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group (MCPG) and each of its imprints. This position works very closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure the advertising and promotion strategies of MCPG are executed according to plan.
This position requires that the candidate be skilled in graphic design, organizationally talented, proficient in managing and prioritizing many projects at once, extremely detail-oriented, creative with strong writing skills, fully aware of the importance of deadlines, and an excellent team player. Mac skills with graphic design proficiency are a must, as is having an artistic eye. Ideal candidate will have 1-2 year publishing, advertising, graphic design, or marketing industry experience, which may include internships.
Major Responsibilities:
• Assist with the creation of ads, including designing, writing copy, trafficking for approval, and proofreading.
• Execute and optimize digital and social media advertising campaigns, including but not limited to Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google Search and Display.
• Compile ad data, create advertising performance reports, and work with the department and the corporate digital marketing team to gain in-depth insight to ad campaign performance.
• Design digital advertisements including trade, consumer, and social media ads — specifically animated gifs, static ads, mobile ads, eBlasts, and more.
• Work with the School and Library team to design print and digital advertisements, including trade journals, conference ads, and co-op ads.
• Coordinate the design and production of promotional materials, such consumer convention banners and in-store retail displays.
• Manage promotional projects with internal staff and suppliers including the requesting of competitive pricing from various vendors, the production of materials, and coordination with the warehouse or storage facility to manage delivery and shipping.
• Present advertising plans to sales team, agents and publishers.
• Willing to travel in support of our conventions and conferences.
• Provide support to the Senior Designer by assisting in maintaining the design production schedule, and fulfilling incoming and outgoing requests for art.
• Provide support to the Advertising Director, Marketing Manager, and overall team.
• Assist in the organization of production schedules, project orders, display grid, and promotional item grid and project log.

• An interest in children’s and/or young adult literature helpful.
Experience Needed:
• Must have working knowledge in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat.
• Must also know Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
• HTML/ CSS knowledge a PLUS.
• Work experience preferred, book publishing internships are a bonus
Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s degree required (English, Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing, or Publishing Program preferred)
