Job Description
TEGNA Inc., an innovative media company operating 47 television stations and two radio stations in 39 markets, has a key management position available at its TEGNA Media / Advertising Customer Services (TMACS) shared services facility in downtown Dallas, Texas. The Manager of Credit & Billing will be responsible for all aspects of the credit and billing functions for all of the TEGNA properties. The primary duties for this position include:
Credit:
• Manages a credit team responsible for the evaluation, granting, and ongoing monitoring of client credit; administers the policies, procedures and business rules that govern that process including rules within D&B’s credit evaluation tool.
• Works with station staff to resolve customer credit issues and ensures credit holds are released per procedures.
• Collaborates with system vendors to develop improved processes and evaluation tools.
• Maintains online, customer-facing electronic invoice presentment and payment system (online portal accepting customer credit card and ACH payments).
• Collaborates with Collection team regarding credit status changes and writing off bad debts.
Billing/Log Reconciliation:
• Manages a Billing team responsible for reconciling daily TV logs and generating invoices for all operating units.
• Investigates customer billing issues as necessary and brings to resolution.
• Manages the centralized billing procedures ensuring the highest quality customer service and accuracy in billing and financial reporting.
• Maintains relationships and resolves issues with third-party billing vendor. Works to improve process and functionality of system.
• Coordinates testing and implementations related to the billing process.
• Resolves integration issues with outside vendors.
• Manages billing of digital orders outside of primary billing system.
General:
• Assists in developing and updating new and existing department policies and procedures.
• Works with internal and external audit functions.
• Prepares various reports for station units and other internal and external groups.
• Ensures system controls are functioning properly and are executed per policy.
• Engages in the investigation and resolution of customer issues/inquiries in a prompt, effective, and professional manner.
• Coordinates training initiatives for staff, operating units, and corporate finance related to department functions.
Job Requirements
Requirements for this position include:
• Four-year degree required in Accounting or Finance
• 10 years overall financial or accounting experience
• 5 years of B2B credit evaluation experience
• 5 years supervising a billing team
• Experience managing a large staff including supervisors
• Strong MS Office software experience including advanced abilities with Excel
• Demonstrated advanced abilities in data manipulation and analysis
• Customer service driven with excellent skills related to: written/verbal communications, analysis, negotiating, supervising, and organizational skills
Preferred skills and experience include:
• TV Broadcast media industry experience (strongly preferred)
• Experience with key systems such Wide Orbit and Dun & Bradstreet
• System installation and/or conversion and testing experience
Some travel may be required on an infrequent basis.
