We are looking for an energetic and results-oriented Production Artist to join our on-site, client-facing Creative Team. The Production Artist executes and creates production-ready assets for print and digital projects. He/she will work both independently as well as closely with Designers, Account Executives, Copywriters, and Copy Editors to ensure consistency in quality of work. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects to meet timelines and due dates.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executing layout and design changes under the direction of Designers and Creative Director
Ensuring accuracy of design files in the latter stages of development
Pre-flight and/or preparing final artwork for delivery to vendors and developers
Creating working comps and mock-ups
Reviewing and approving print proofs
Maintaining brand standards in print collateral and digital design projects
Communicating with creative, editorial, and account teams to ensure expectations and deadlines are met
Approximately 80% of the Production Artist’s time will be in production and 20% may be dedicated to design and/or concept development. A successful candidate will bring the same positive attitude to both.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review revisions/comments for multiple projects via online proofing system, follow established style guides, edit existing files with photo changes, copy changes and design modifications
Responsiveness to constructive criticism
Ability to work under pressure and quick turnarounds when necessary
Present creative ideas to clients in an entertaining manner, either in person or via conference call. Help clients fall in love with ideas we present!
Be comfortable working independently and as part of larger team
Explore, recommend, and optimize creative concepts, design, and production methods
Deep understanding of client’s culture and member services on a national, regional and local level
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACT:
Reports to the Creative Director as part of a team of Designers and Production Artists. Works directly with Account Executives, Proofreaders, Copy Editors, and Copywriters.
Qualifications
Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Experience with digital and print design
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1-3 years of professional design or production experience, which can include internships (in-house experience OK!)
MUST provide an online portfolio of design work
COMPETENCIES:
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, preferably on Mac. Experience using JavaScript, and other web design tools is a plus.
Ability to distinguish good layout/typography/photography, apply color theory, hierarchy and balance, and maintain brand standards
Excellent organization skills, and keen attention to detail
Fundamental knowledge of supporting web application languages (JavaScript, XML, PHP, ASP, .NET, etc.). HTML5/CSS3, Javascript a HUGE plus but not a must.
Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work in a team environment
