Role Summary
The IT Product/Program Manager for Digital Media & Content Technology will work within the Information Technology Department to gather, create, and organize the business needs for a developing enterprise content distribution platform for Global Eagle’s customers across the world. This role is expected to be the Product/Program Manager over the various platform components, and will serve as a liaison between internal business teams, development teams, and external vendors.
Responsibilities include the management of an existing roadmap, identifying and implementing future enhancements, assisting with documentation of future process workflows, and managing development of integrations between internal and 3rd party systems. It is expected that this person will develop a deep understanding of the vendor’s products in order to identify changes to configurations, integrations, and customizations. As part of the development and rollout of the enterprise content distribution platform, domestic and international travel to other Global Eagle offices will be required.
The IT Product/Program Manager will need to apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the development process, and lead the Project Management of multiple initiatives according to specifications. The IT Product/ProgramManager will play a pivotal role in partnering with IT, Operational teams, and technology vendors to continue building out the enterprise content distribution platform for Global Eagle’s customers in both a B2B and B2C environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
• Collaborate with business operation teams, project managers, and project sponsors to manage project scope and vision.
• Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
• Reinforce and champion the idea and culture of continuous improvement and digital supply chain improvement projects.
• Identify and develop strategies to retirement existing legacy systems, tools, and processes.
Vendor Management
• Partner with Vendors, Global Eagle’s Operation Teams, and IT Department to facilitate and manage development efforts.
• Willingness to learn and understand vendor’s software products in order to meet agreed-upon requirements.
• Prioritize and communicate development efforts, configuration changes, and roadmap items.
• Participate in the selection of any vendor solutions (RFP, RFI) that the organization may choose to use
• Assist with project budget, SOWs, related contracts, scope, and timelines.
Integration and Development
• Manage the priorities between Technology Vendors, and Global Eagle's Business Operations, and IT departments.
• Manage the ongoing development activities and integrations for the existing roadmap.
• Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
• Assist with the interpretation of requirements into feasible options, and communicate back with the business stakeholders.
• Responsible for working within Information Technology department to ensure data and security policies are being followed.
• Identifying future enhancements, prioritize against the existing roadmap, and implement when required.
• Participate in the QA of solutions to ensure that the features and functions have been enabled and optimized.
Organizational Management
• Create, update, and maintain project documentation in an appropriate project repository for easy access by stakeholders
• Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely organize documentation
• Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements – verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
Qualifications/Experience
• College diploma or university degree.
• Two to five years of related work experience within the Media & Entertainment industry is highly preferred.
• Understanding of post-production workflows and technology (Editorial, Audio, QC, Finishing/Mastering)
• Experience with vendor management and relations in the TV/Film space
• Experience and/or familiarity with AWS Cloud technology and services is beneficial
• Experience and/or familiarity with providing technology support, service, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with video technical specifications, and the industry patterns related to these technologies.
• Experience with business and technical requirements creation, analysis, management, and methodology development.
• Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products.
• Proven experience formulating, managing and delivering large scale, complex business & technology projects
• Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
• Familiarity with industry communication tools including: JIRA, Confluence, Slack, Smartsheets, and other similar tools.
• Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to effectively, and independently, manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail; requires strong organizational, planning and time management skills
• Ability to travel up to 30% to domestic and global locations depending on phases of the platform development.
