Description
Newsy is hiring a Product Manager -- Audience UX to join our team in Chicago. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the product roadmap for Newsy's user-facing apps and partner integrations. You'll build interfaces and experiences that showcase Newsy's award-winning content on all manner of devices. A high level of organization, attention to detail, and experience with UX design is essential to this broad and very impactful role.
What you'll do:
• Act as a product champion for your products within the company.
• Identify product features and enhancements and manage their entire lifecycle from idea conception to post-launch monitoring and improvements.
• Work closely with the editorial, marketing and sales stakeholders, user experience and technology teams to define detailed key product requirements.
• Define product requirements for use by development & QA.
• Ensure product definition and product life-cycle roadmap support the business drivers (i.e., revenue, audience, cost savings, strategic value).
• Monitor and analyze how well the product is performing including user satisfaction, ease of use, profitability, retention and reliability.
• Partner closely with editorial, sales, marketing, and product development to evolve the digital and television product.
• Stay current on digital trends in editorial storytelling and presentation.
• Use data-driven insight to inform strategy.
• Contribute new ideas and strategies to keep the presentation of content on the cutting edge in a rapidly evolving medium.
• Identify competitive offerings in the market and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
• Along with marketing, identify user segments with strong growth potential, creating the business case and strategy for targeting.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver any necessary changes to the product.
• Perform other duties as needed and as directed by Management.
What you bring:
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Journalism and/or MBA from top tier program or equivalent work experience
Skills and Abilities
• Required:
◦ 3-5 years of product management experience designing, creating and shipping a successful consumer software product(s)
◦ 2-3 years minimum of product management experience focused on user experience design of web or television applications
◦ Experience working with video files: transcoding, hosting, distribution, playback
◦ General passion for journalism and video-based media
◦ Able to motivate others to achieve great things through exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
◦ Self-motivated and results-oriented
• Preferred:
◦ Experience planning and executing user research/usability studies
◦ Experience building apps that primarily display videos to the user
◦ Familiarity with video advertising including SSAI
◦ Familiarity with TV-Everywhere authentication
