Project Coordinator- "Made in NY" Women's Film, TV and Theatre Fund
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is seeking a consultant to act as the Project Coordinator for the “Made in NY” Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund. NYFA is proud to administrator for this new 3-year grant program created by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment to encourage and support the creation of film, television, digital, and live theatre content that reflect the voices and perspectives of women and female-identified individuals. The program will award finishing grants in the categories of: fiction feature, short and webseries; documentary feature, short and webseries, and theatre production. Projects must be completed by March 31, 2020 and a key role of this position is to work with recipients to ensure projects are completed on a timely basis.
We are looking for a consultant to work 16 - 20 hours per week, reporting to the Director of NYFA Grants, to oversee all aspects of the program, as outlined below. The position starts as soon as possible and will last for the duration of the program (currently projected through March 2023).
Since this is a new initiative for both NYFA and the city, the individual in this position will play a critical role in helping to develop and shape this program.
Responsibilities:
During the application process:
- Assist with creation of the grant application.
- Assist with outreach to attract qualified candidates.
- Conduct informational seminars both online and in person.
- Work with NYFA Grants team to secure qualified candidates from all segments of the film, television and theatre communities to serve on the grant panels.
- Be the key point person for applicant questions throughout the process.
- With NYFA Grants staff, moderate grant panels.
After the grants have been awarded:
- Work with recipients to establish benchmarks to ensure projects are completed within the designated timeline.
- Monitor progress of funded projects through production and post production, call out potential delays and work with recipients on solutions.
- Create contract agreements between recipients, NYFA and the City of New York.
- Process payment requests.
- Monitor fund balance for each project.
- Monitor overall budget for the “Made in NY” Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund
- Prepare quarterly reports on status of all projects.
- Monitor use of “Made in NY” branding as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Experience with and strong understanding of filmmaking, especially post-production budgets and facilities and resources in New York City, is essential.
- Ability to deal with people of all temperaments and levels of experience.
- Ability to calmly juggle numerous projects simultaneously (we anticipate approximately 25 - 35 recipients each year).
- Previous grant making experience preferred.
- Strong, clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly detail oriented.
- Strong follow up skills.
Salary: $30/hr for 16-20 per week; flexible schedule.
