ABOUT MEDIACOM DATA WAREHOUSE:
The Mediacom Data Warehouse (DW) is looking for an enthusiastic individual interested in joining a growing team of professionals as it undertakes a complete refresh of its current DW environment. This is a unique opportunity to join a greenfield migration project at the ground level. The environment refresh includes Active Batch Automation and Scheduling, Solarwinds Database Monitoring, Informatica 10 data integration, and Oracle Exadata running the latest 12c database. The right person for this position must be able to work and thrive in a truly collaborative environment, be an eager learner, self-motivated and not afraid to pitch in with all areas of the DW as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Warehouse Administrator is primarily responsible for the maintenance, optimization, and support of ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) processes, which are used to move large amounts of data from source data and software application data stores into reporting databases and data warehouses. Documents technical and system specifications for ETL processes and performs unit tests on all processes. Performs day to day administration of the Informatica data integration tool as well as the ActiveBatch job scheduling tool.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist in configuration and maintenance of Informatica environments.
• Assist in performance tuning of ETL processes.
• Assist ETL users with issues related to access, configuration or any other infrastructure related issues.
• Create and manage repository contents; such as create folders for users, groups, assign rights and privileges.
• Manage Data Warehouse servers by monitoring disk space, memory, CPU etc.
• Read PL/SQL code and create technical design documents that can be used by developers to convert PL/SQL code into informatic mappings.
• Create Active Batch processes to automate work flows.
• Create written documentation that explains the purpose of a job, the steps it performs and how to troubleshoot issues related to the job.
• Monitoring of existing Production scheduling servers and workflows for errors and resolving those errors in a timely manner.
• Participate in ETL Design sessions with the developers, as the career path of this job leads to a development role.
• Production/Migration support of new or changing mappings and workflows.
• Support off-hours scheduled maintenance of servers.
• Assist in ongoing development of technical best practices for data movement, data quality, data cleansing and other ETL related activities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
• An Associate's degree or higher degree within technology required.
• Possess great attention to detail while also being flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment and changing priorities.
• Understanding of SQL and some experience in a database environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Some experience with technical documents creation.
• Dependability and adaptability.
• Ability to work in team/collaborative setting.
