Our Model Citizens (or MCs) are one of the main attractions of our park and create the guest experience that makes our park unique. As an MC you will play a role in creating an interactive experience for the children and families who will visit our park. We have an action phrase, a daily reminder of our special brand of service excellence: “Make Someone a Hero Today!” This is our approach to the way we treat our guests and each other, a spirit of trust and caring that makes each day a fun and rewarding experience.
Position Summary:
As a Guest Service Associate working in the Day Services division of the Grounds Department, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the Park’s cleanliness before operating hours. Associates are required to work as self-starters in a team environment to utilize cleaning tools and equipment to refresh restrooms and public areas and ensure a visually pleasing and safe aesthetic is maintained for our guests.
Also, as a Model Citizen (employee) at LEGOLAND California Resort, your purpose is to provide memorable experiences to our guests. Guests travel from all around the world to make memories with their families and our job is to help those come to life. Each Model Citizen, regardless of which department they work in or which position they hold, is required to understand and focus on our main guest expectations, which are as follows:
1. Focus on Children – Our key age demographic is children ages 2-12. Because of this, children are the primary reason anyone is visiting the park. It is our job to engage them and make them feel special.
2. Take care of each guest as an individual– A lot of planning and cost goes into taking a family trip to a theme park. Each of our guests deserves to feel special and like they are the most important guest at the park. It’s our job to treat each guest as if they are the first guest we’ve seen all day and take ownership to solve any guest difficulties we encounter.
3. Be knowledgeable – It is imperative for each Model Citizen to be knowledgeable and learn the answers to the frequently asked questions in their area of the park. Guests view each employee as a representative of LEGOLAND and a resource for any assistance they need throughout their day.
Job Role:
Grounds Associates perform daily cleaning and detailing of the Resort’s Restrooms and stock areas prior to park opening. MCs will also stock each restroom and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the designated storage areas. Grounds Associate are also responsible for managing the Resort’s waste by completing trash runs, washing down and sweeping pathways.
Scope and Responsibilities:
• Maintains overall cleanliness of the Park during park operation
• Tasks vary but include custodial work, sweeping pathways, emptying trash cans and replacing trash liners, use of specialized cleaning equipment, etc.
• Maintains the overall cleanliness of designated restrooms
• Able to safely utilize applicable equipment, such as leaf blowers, litter vacuums, etc.
• Follows all departmental and park policies and procedures
• Keeps tools, machinery, and all other company equipment in clean and working order
• Follows all training guidelines and safety protocol such as hazardous communications, blood borne pathogens, ride access control, ladder safety, etc
• Carries a variety of cleaning tools and supplies while in the Park during operation
• Organizes and stocks supplies as needed and communicates stock levels to department Supervisor to ensure stock is ordered in a timely manner
• Communicates any operational, guest, maintenance, safety or staffing issues to Supervisor as needed
• Able to utilize a handheld radio unit for communication with other department members
• Self-motivated and able to efficiently work alone as well as in a team environment
Background and Education:
• Must speak English fluently and be able to follow directions written in the English language
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support park operation
• The earliest shifts in the Grounds Day Services department can begin around 5:00am. The latest shifts can end around 1:00pm
• Must be able to work efficiently outdoors in various weather conditions such as wet, hot, or humid conditions
