Viki is seeking a Director of Sales who thrives in a fast-paced, creative and startup-like environment. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Revenue, the Director of Sales will be responsible for setting the direct sales strategy for Viki, selling Viki’s video inventory and helping create and sell non-traditional advertising packages. You will have the ability to leverage Viki’s social reach of over 21 million, influencer marketing, digital events like The Soompi Awards, branded content and other video and non-video related assets. The ideal candidate has digital advertising experience, strong brand and agency contacts and experience in creating and selling non-traditional advertising packages. With a track-record in building an effective sales team and improving an organization’s market position to achieve revenue growth, you will build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close advertising and sponsorship sales deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. Responsibilities:
• Build Viki’s image and visibility with advertisers and brands both in the US and internationally
• Identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators by using knowledge of the market and competitors
• Identify targets and opportunities and find ways to build relationships with new clients including cold calling to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
• Develop and sell-in non-traditional advertising packages/products including social, branded content, influencer marketing, branded articles, etc.
• Pitch, negotiate and close deals
• Set weekly, monthly and quarterly sales goals and keep senior level management apprised of the progress
• Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team and oneself; track and record activity on accounts to close deals to meet the targets
• Advise senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new products, sponsorships and sales pipelines
• Implement a sales training and orientation program
Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience in digital media sales and/or sponsorship sales management
• 7+ years experience in direct or outside sales
• Possess a deep network of agency and brand contacts
• Interest in being a pioneer in the media industry with the ability to create and sell a story that goes beyond the multicultural ad space
• Excellent prospecting and closing skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter who can work autonomously
• Superb cross-functional, organizational and analytical skills
• Great depth of understanding of the online media and advertising space
• Knowledge of different ad/sponsorship formats and monetization strategies
• Experience in global team management is a huge plus
