Overview:
Townsquare Media is seeking a multitalented Internal Audit Senior to join the Accounting Management team. This position will work cross functionally with accounting, finance and operations teams to support the Internal Audit / compliance and other financial reporting functions.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform ongoing assessment of the Company’s SOX 404 framework, which includes conducting the annual risk assessment, scoping for management testing and compliance with the COSO Internal Control - Integrated Framework.
• Conduct internal controls testing and monitor methodologies to validate the presence and effectiveness of key controls and ensure compliance with the Company’s internal control matrices, GAAP, and internal policies and procedures.
• Identify control gaps and provide recommendations (remediation / mitigation) for control process improvements and help facilitate remediation plans.
• Perform the maintenance and preparation of detailed and accurate documentation of controls, including process narratives, control descriptions, flow charts, risk and control matrices and company policies and procedures.
• Proactively monitor changes in business processes and provide guidance where necessary. Support system implementations to ensure adequate controls are incorporated, change control guidelines are followed, and process changes are documented accordingly.
• Assist with training business owners and Finance personnel on establishment of new processes and implementation of controls, as needed.
• Assist with ad hoc Internal Audit and / or Finance initiatives/projects, such as implementing changes in accounting principles due to new ASUs, SOX platform, and any necessary financial investigations.
• Develop and maintain productive and effective business relationships, primarily with market & corporate management and the external audit team.
• Identify and communicate both internally and externally any changes in professional standards, pronouncements, laws, guidelines, best practices and audit requirements as needed.
• Ensure that detailed audit work is focused effectively on areas assessed as high risk, thus ensuring maximum payback from the assignment.
• Present audit recommendations clearly and concisely to management and ensure subsequent written audit reports are issued timely.
• Assist in ensuring all approved audit recommendations are implemented in accordance with agreed upon action plans.
• Role model for the company’s values and demonstrate the highest ethical standards.
Skills Requirements:
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in audit and accounting (SOX 404 testing)
• CPA preferred (or working towards CPA)
• Microsoft applications – Excel, Word, Power Point, Great Plains,
• Excellent verbal and written communication; Strong presentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
