Entercom Communications Corp. (“Entercom”) is seeking a Senior Vice President, Human Resources. As a member of the senior leadership team, the SVP HR will be responsible for continuing to develop and enhance all aspects of human resources for Entercom. This leader will be responsible for developing the Company’s HR strategy in collaboration with the senior leadership team, and lead the implementation and execution of that strategy. A key priority will be establishing and strengthening the culture following the merger of Entercom and CBS Radio Inc. A major goal will be developing systems, initiatives and processes to support the new larger organization. This position is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities, including support to the senior leadership team in the areas of cultural transformation, executive recruiting, organizational/leadership development, talent management and benefits.
On November 17, 2017, Entercom completed its acquisition of CBS Radio. This transaction created a preeminent radio platform, with a nationwide footprint, operating in 48 markets with roughly 240 stations. Entercom is now a leading American media and entertainment company reaching and engaging over 100 million people each week through its premier collection of highly rated, award-winning radio stations, digital platforms and live events. As one of the country’s two largest radio broadcasters, Entercom offers integrated marketing solutions and delivers the power of local connection on a national scale with coverage of close to 90% of persons 12+ in the top 50 markets. Entercom has approximately 4,500 full-time employees and 3,500 part-time/temporary employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create an HR organization that retains the best parts of an entrepreneurial organization while evolving the Company’s processes and approach to talent (attracting, retaining, developing and compensating).
• Create a cultural transformation by rebranding HR to be viewed by employees as being forward thinking, innovative, progressive, approachable and supportive.
• Ensure that HR practices and policies are business-based and aligned with the Company’s strategy.
• Attract, develop and lead an effective and highly-functioning, highly-respected human resources team, that is also viewed as expert, proactive, strategic and vital to the Company’s success.
• Create a strong sense of urgency in the Human Resources team for delivering results.
• Ensure fundamental HR processes and systems are in place, in compliance, and aligned with the business and leadership strategies across the organization.
• Ensure that the systems processes are as user friendly taking advantage of available technology.
• Ensure that Entercom has industry leading recruitment and retention practices, resulting in a high performing and diverse workforce, as well as development and succession management programs designed to build a growing talent base. Promote a culture that encourages employee engagement and enables a high-performing workforce.
• Lead the employee and human resource communications strategy to deliver necessary information to the employees, simplifying the messages to focus on what matters.
• Lead all efforts in compensation and benefits (collaborating with finance and legal functions), aligning existing and future plans with Company objectives.
• Anticipate key business issues and ensure that exceptional human resource service is delivered to the stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• Fifteen plus years of broad based HR management is required with a minimum of 5 years in a VP of HR role.
• Experience with a large scale merger and integrating two different cultures is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise across HR including talent management, benefits administration, labor negotiations, performance management succession planning and executive compensation.
• Strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
• Experience with “rebranding” a Human Resources department that is viewed by employees as critical, beneficial, forward thinking, innovative, progressive and supportive.
• Executive credibility and the ability to constructively express contrary views while respecting the views of others. A professional capable of functioning with credibility at every level of the organization.
• Strong leadership and strategic skills, as well as business acumen. Proven ability to lead teams on a national basis.
• Experience with HR Information systems required.
