Position at Taylor Communications Inc.
The Desktop Creative position reports to the Premedia Manager. The Desktop Creative is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of activities related to typesetting, design and file preparation. The Desktop Creative will work with department leaders, supervisors, management, project coordinators and account executives.
This position will work under defined parameters adhering to company procedures and ensuring client expectations and needs are met.
Responsibilities:
• Work in depth with the full suite of Adobe Creative Cloud applications
• Typesetting and understanding data merge are critical
• Preflight supplied files for accuracy, links, fonts, spot colors, dimensions, resolution, etc.
• Inspects all proofs for accuracy
• Notifies Project Coordinator for any missing elements and alerts Manager of any issues that effect production
• Reads and understands job tickets.
• Ensure quality and color standards are inline with company standards and customer requirements.
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Collect job data when necessary.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety in the work area.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A certificate or diploma in electronic prepress operations or printing prepress; an associates degree in graphic arts and imaging technology or printing and prepress technology; OR demonstrated ability to meet job requirements and 5+ years experience in the printing industry. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. Mac and PC proficiency. Use of digital workflows which include RIPing to Litho, Screen and Digital presses. Font management, preflighting and general production related troubleshooting. Able to work independently and meet project deadlines. Read and understand the production job ticket including detailed technical instruction. Attention to detail and a sharp eye for accuracy are required from proofing to final production. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
